    Job overview

    We have a full time and a part time post available.

    Full Time Post: 37.5 hours over 4 days Monday to Thursday 7am - 5pm.

    Part Time Post: 24.5 hours working Wednesday and Thursday 8am - 4pm and Friday 7am - 5pm.

    Alex Ward includes a 20 bedded elective surgical ward and the Admission on the Day Unit, where patients arrive before their admission or for procedures. The post holder would cover both areas of Alex Ward.

    The post holder will work on the ward reception, assisting with the smooth and efficient running of the reception area. They will meet and greet patients, answer patient queries and liaise on their behalf on issues such as transport and interpreting services. Where necessary the post holder will book patients in and out using the hospital administration system, Care Records Service (CRS), ensuring confidentiality of all patient information book follow up appointments where necessary provide accurate, timely information to assist Clinicians and nursing staff in good management of their outpatient clinics undertake other duties including answering the telephone to both internal and external callers, sending appointments to patients, booking transport, organising medical notes for outpatient clinics.

    Main duties of the job

    We need a friendly, caring and efficient Receptionist to join our established team. You will meet and greet patients and their families, deal with a range of telephone enquiries and use the hospital computer system to make appointments, admit and discharge patients.

    You will have excellent communication skills, enjoy working in a busy environment and have the ability to prioritise your workload with minimum supervision. Clerical, administrative and good computer skills are essential. Previous experience of working with the public in a hospital setting is desirable
