    Job Purpose

    As an Events Manager you will lead an exciting range of strategic engagement events for the College of Social Sciences (CoSS).

    Working within the Engagement & Impact Team and supported by an Events Support Administrator, the role will be responsible for planning and delivering a strategic programme of events that advance the delivery of the College's Research & Knowledge Exchange Strategy.

    This will encompass the management of high-profile online and in-person events, connecting researchers with stakeholders, working across the wide range of social science disciplines, and combining a vibrant public-facing and inclusive programme of activities.

    These activities will enhance the College's reputation locally, nationally and internationally and strengthen relationships with key partners.

    On a day-to-day basis, the role will oversee the creative development, communication, timetabling and delivery plans for CoSS events, managing budgets and logistics, and liaising with colleagues from across the University to deliver a professional events experience.

    The role will also lead the development and implementation of robust evaluation that will feed into the process of capturing and measuring engagement and impact.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities Reporting to the Engagement and Impact Manager, the main duties and responsibilities will be: 1. Devise and implement an events strategy in order to deliver on the College's key strategic priorities. This involves managing the operational implementation of events to a high professional standard and liaising with companion teams involved in communications, knowledge exchange, research support, hospitality and procurement.2. Lead the Events Team in the delivery of the events strategy. Ensure effective planning, management, coordination, promotion, delivery and evaluation of the College's programme of events to a high professional standard.3. Use experience and specialist knowledge to create new events in support of strategic targets. Rationalise existing events to ensure they are in-line with strategic objectives, continue to report and deliver on clearly-defined KPIs.4. Work alongside Communications Team colleagues in the development and marketing of events, contributing to and delivering promotional plans and identifying key audiences for each event, ensuring maximum coverage generated in pursuit of the College's strategic objectives.5. Proactively seek out and establish strategic partnerships. Develop and maintain a network of relationships industry-wide, which will benefit CoSS and its strategic objectives.6. Use specialist knowledge and experience to develop and implement processes based on industry best practice. These should include, but not be limited to, areas such as Health & Safety and data protection compliance.7. Contribute to an engaged team environment by leading training and development opportunities, encouraging a culture of teamwork and support. Motivate colleagues and share knowledge and skills across the team.8. Provide professional advice and guidance to members of CoSS staff in relation to all aspects of events. Develop training and resources to support others to deliver high-quality events.9. Plan and implement monitoring and evaluation of events to assist with the analysis of data to inform improvements, reports and recommendations to inform decision making.10. Develop a CoSS events staff network, maintaining regular contact with relevant colleagues in each of the College's five Schools.11. Line Management of CoSS Events Support Administrator.12. Other relevant duties as assigned by line manager.

    Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience Knowledge/Qualifications Essential: A1 A degree (SQA Framework level 9) or equivalent professional qualification.
    A2 Knowledge of engagement approaches within a Higher Education and/or a research setting.
    A3 Knowledge of the importance and practical implementation of the highest standards of accessibility, diversity and inclusion.

    A4 Knowledge of the use of marketing and branding for events purposes and awareness of sustainable practice around promotional activities.

    A5 Working knowledge of project and events management software.

    Desirable: B1 Membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g. events or project management).

    Skills Essential: C1 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    C3 Ability to work under pressure and balance multiple, competing priorities.

    Experience Essential: E1 Experience of delivering events in a professional capacity, both in-person and online.
    E2 Experience of developing engagement plans, event design and delivery.
    E3 Experience of stakeholder engagement and reputational management.
    E4 Experience of managing and controlling budgets and resources.
    E5 Experience of implementing monitoring and evaluation approaches, including the measurement of event outcomes against planned objectives.
    E6 Experience of planning for events, encompassing risk assessment.

    Desirable: F1 Experience of developing events resources and/or delivering training.
    F2 Experience of organising events for users of research (e.g. third sector, practitioners or policymakers). Terms and Conditions Salary will be Grade 7, £39,347 - £44,263 per annum. This post is full time (35 hours per week) and open ended (permanent). Relocation assistance will be provided where appropriate.
