    Description

    Shift Engineer at Smart Managed Solutions

    Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in maintaining our engineering assets and ensuring seamless operations? Join us at Smart Managed Solutions as a Shift Engineer and be part of a dynamic team committed to excellence.

    Overall Purpose of the Job:

    As a Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for operating and managing all engineering assets to support the business without any unplanned disruptions. Your main tasks will include carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive and breakdown works on all electrical systems within the site. You'll need to demonstrate relevant knowledge of UPS, Generators & LV systems, along with the ability to fault find using graphical information and current alarm data.

    Key Tasks / Responsibilities:

    • Conduct routine PPM on all electrical plant according to task schedules and asset lists.
    • Respond promptly to reactive tasks throughout the building and proactively identify areas for improvement.
    • Swiftly remedy plant faults and defects to maintain serviceable order.
    • Ensure availability of suitable spares for maintenance and reactive works.
    • Keep the Computer-Based Maintenance system up to date with accurate data.
    • Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks to ensure safe working practices.
    • Develop strong working relationships with Smart staff, subcontractors, and client representatives.
    • Supervise and monitor subcontractors' works on-site.
    • Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and safe systems of work.

    Accountabilities:

    • Report to the Site Supervisor and work collaboratively as part of the team.
    • No direct budgetary responsibility, with indirect reporting lines to the Contract Manager.

    Person Specification:

    • IT literate with excellent customer-facing manner.
    • Positive and proactive approach to work, able to work on own initiative.
    • Experience maintaining electrical equipment in building services.
    • City and Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 in electrical engineering (essential).
    • 18th Edition BS7671 certification (desirable).
    • HVAP and/or LVAP experience (desirable).
    • Portable Appliance Testing certification (desirable).

    Aptitudes:

    • Good verbal and written communication skills.

    Character:

    • Committed to delivering excellent customer service.
    • Calm manner, able to work under pressure.
    • A team player, able to work with Smart Managed Solutions and client representatives at all levels.

    Circumstances:

    • Overtime working will be required.
    • Must be willing to provide holiday and sickness cover at short notice and be flexible in working patterns.
