Following a structural review and subsequent significant additional investment, we are excited to present an exceptional role in the SEC's Operations Department.

Comprising the SEC Centre, SEC Armadillo and the OVO Hydro, the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) is Scotland's premier venue for events, concerts, conferences, and exhibitions. We're looking for an experienced, motivated and ambitious Head of Facilities and Compliance to lead their team towards achieving our vision to become the Best Event Campusin Europe .

This comprehensive job description outlines the extensive responsibilities, qualifications, and attributes required for the Head of Facilities role, crucial for ensuring the campus meets and exceeds operational, sustainability, and customer service goals, with a strong emphasis on leadership, partner/contractor management and strategic planning.

    Summary of Role

The role involves overseeing all campus facilities and assets to ensure compliance with legal, statutory, and health & safety regulations, fostering a safe environment for team members, clients, visitors, and contractors. Additionally, it entails developing and executing a comprehensive facilities management strategy, incorporating advanced technologies and sustainable practices. Managing a diverse team of facilities professionals, partners, and contractors is essential, fostering a culture of teamwork, excellence, safety, and continuous improvement. Furthermore, the position involves supervising major projects, renovations, and infrastructure upgrades from planning to completion, integrating assets and developments into regular operations. Oversee the further development of, and regular review of, the SEC's compliance register, legal register and other such systems which ensure the SEC remains continuously safe, compliant and operating within the relevant legislation. Ensure that all systems, assets and spaces are managed in-line with appropriate legislation, guidelines, warranties and industry best practice.

Work closely with the SEC's Health & Safety Team and Event Safety & Security Team to develop and monitor the responsibilities for each Team and introduce processes to clearly capture and communicate the distinct responsibilities.

    Operational Requirements

Create a culture and overall operation that ensures all infrastructure is robustly protected and cared for and that services are delivered to the highest standard by team members, partners and contractors.

Relating to the SEC's Asbestos Management Policy and Asbestos Management Plan, ensure that all team members and contractors operate as required and that all intrusive works are effectively planned, communicated and managed and ensure that known ACMs are not disturbed. Ensure a complete understanding of the SEC's Asbestos related policies, procedures and toolkits.

Develop and monitor the Facilities Team Risk Assessments for the SEC campus and its three main venues and contribute to the wider corporate SEC Risk Assessments.

Oversee the SEC's approach to contractor management and the delivery and logging of appropriate and effective inductions, including ensuring full consideration of the SEC's dynamic event activity.

Support the development and implementation of Incident Management and Business Continuity Planning. Develop a rolling programme of testing and exercising to ensure that the SEC is ready for potential incidents and emergencies.

Responsible for the effective management of the allocated annual budget, including the monitoring of both operating expenditure, capital expenditure and the related procurement/contractual management of related suppliers/contractors for these areas, liaising with the Finance and Legal team where relevant.

Together with other Heads of Service, plan event delivery support requirements, including relocating maintenance where possible due to tenancy pressures whilst always ensuring the SEC remains compliant and on schedule with statutory maintenance requirements.

Provide leadership to drive, motivate, support and develop the multi-disciplinary team in the operation, development and maintenance of the SEC campus. Develop and oversee the plan for the continual development of yourself and the team, ensuring that appropriate arrangements are in place for recruiting, supervising, training and developing all team members.
