    Description
    The Role

    The Financial Times (FT) is seeking an arts editor to oversee the coverage of various art forms in the Life & Arts section of FT Weekend and daily FT publications. This role requires a creative individual who can navigate diverse topics from opera to gaming, fine art to TV streaming. The arts editor will commission, edit, and advocate for the FT's esteemed arts coverage, driving innovation to keep pace with the dynamic arts landscape.

    In addition to print responsibilities, the arts editor will enhance online content, cultivate media partnerships, and contribute to FT events and festivals. They will also conduct interviews, write features, and offer insights across a wide range of art forms.

    Main Areas of Responsibility Include:
    • Commissioning diverse art coverage internationally, spanning music, film, television, theater, visual arts, architecture, video games, podcasts, and more
    • Managing a team to meet fast-paced production schedules and deadlines, fostering collaboration with designers and picture editors
    • Nurturing and developing relationships with arts writers globally for enriched content
    • Producing special supplements on the art market, maintaining media partnerships, and engaging in art-related events
    • Programming arts content at FT Weekend festivals and participating in public-facing activities

    Essential Requirements
    • Extensive experience in arts commissioning and editing
    • Established network within the sector
    • Ability to collaborate across print and digital platforms
    • Team management experience
    • Strong prioritization and deadline management skills
