    This new role will lead operational aspects of the Risk and Business Continuity processes across the University. This unique role will support the Risk and Resilience Manager in maintaining, developing, and embedding all aspects of the University's business continuity, risk and incident management processes at an operational level.

    The main duties and responsibilities of this role will be to:

  • Manage the delivery of a robust and professional service to the University.
  • Point of contact for all risk and resilience related matters for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Become a trusted advisor providing advice, support and training to stakeholders on Risk and Resilience matters.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs to ensure timely resolution of matters.
  • Data gathering and analysis.
  • Demonstrate a detailed understanding of the University's risk and resilience processes.
  • Represent the University at external events.
  • Support the Risk and Resilience Manager during major incidents, liaising with and providing advice to BCU faculties and departments.
  • Daily operational administration i.e. Updating plans and procedures, responding to department queries, requests for documentation and managing the business continuity and risk inbox.
  • Attending site visits across the university to review incidents and/or response arrangements with faculties and departments.
  • Support Risk and Resilience Steering and Working Group activities.
  • Write and present reports and presentations at the appropriate level.
  • Support the Risk and Resilience Manager to develop and maintain risk registers, Business Continuity Plans, and exercises, which will include the following:

  • Gathering and compiling data from departments.
  • Liaising with faculties and departments on review and update of processes
  • Work to deadlines to ensure information is provided promptly.
  • Provide expert detailed and comprehensive business continuity, incident response and risk management advice to staff of all levels within the University.
  • Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of working in a risk and resilience environment with an enhanced understanding of business continuity, incident response and risk management practice and principles, or equivalent work experience and knowledge.
  • Ability to interpret and respond to complex information or situations, and to exercise judgement when supporting the actions required to respond to a disruptive incident.
  • A high level of literacy and numeracy
  • Excellent IT skills including advanced knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software packages, preferably Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent team working skills with the ability to work collaboratively and co-operatively with colleagues.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with an articulate, confident, and diplomatic approach to communications and tact and discretion when dealing with sensitive issues.
  • Ability to successfully manage relationships with a wide range of contacts both internal and external to the University.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities on own initiative.
  • Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Risk management and/or business continuity qualifications.
