    Pure Insight are looking to recruit a Leaving Care Mentoring Coordinator/ Intensive Outreach worker (Youth) to join our team based in Halton.

    Permanent Contract

    Hours 35

    Annual Leave: 24 days plus bank holidays, increasing to 26 days after 2 years and then up to 27 after 5 years employment

    Pure Insight support young people leaving children's homes and foster care (care leavers) between the age of 16 – 28. We provide a wraparound offer supporting young people to take control of their lives, feel connected and develop a sense of belonging in their community.

    Over the past 10 years we have grown across Greater Manchester delivering services in Stockport, Salford, Cheshire East, and Warrington, we are now expanding into Halton. We are really proud to have developed nationally recognised best practice programmes for young care leavers.

    To support our continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a full time Leaving Care Mentoring Coordinator/ Intensive Outreach worker (Youth) to join our Halton team. The role is responsible for supporting young care leavers to stabilise and benefit from our Mentoring Programme, providing practical and emotional support to care leavers through our volunteers and variety of support networks. The young people we support face significant barriers and challenges, this role requires a dynamic, resourceful individual, comfortable with networking to find solutions and resources to support young people to thrive.

    Job Description

    • Develop trusting relationships on an outreach basis with young care leavers facing complex situations such as homelessness, offending, substance use, asylum seeking young people and becoming a young parent.
    • Support young people to identify areas of their life they would like to change, develop or improve using strength-based approaches.
    • Ensure young people are safeguarded and supported to reduce risk in their lives by getting alongside them to understand and work with the contexts of their lives
    • Support volunteer mentor recruitment, selection and matching.
    • Support the delivery of mentor training (10-week course run twice yearly in the evenings).
    • Deliver volunteer mentor supervision, evaluation and support (often in the evenings).
    • Provide suitable mentor relationships and additional support to young people as required to meet their assessed and expressed needs.
    • Create safe and realistic activities for young people and mentors.
    • Liaise with referral agencies and funders, co-locate with them for some of the week, attend team meetings.
    • Develop and maintain relationships/partnerships with local organisations that can benefit the young people we support.
    • Attend and advocate for young people in multiagency meetings in particular contextual safeguarding and risk management
    • Keep appropriate records, interpret monitoring data and produce and present evaluation reports.
    • Provide information and advice to other project staff on specific areas of project activity that the post holder has responsibility for.
    • Cover any appropriate aspect of other team members roles in their absence.
    • Contribute to the development and promotion of Pure Insight.
    • Contribute to meeting project or departmental targets and objectives.
    • Participate in the general development of the organisation through meetings, training and attendance of other events.
    • Provide out of hours support (on a rota basis) for mentors and young people.
    • To carry out any other duties within the scope of the post.

    Essential Experience/Qualifications

    • Minimum of 2 years' experience working with vulnerable and disengaged young people
    • Experience of working on an outreach basis in the community and people's homes
    • Valid driving license with access to a car for work to transport young people
    • Experience of delivering training.
    • Experience of coordinating a project.
    • Experience of managing, motivating and supporting volunteers or staff.
    • Ability to develop strong working links and partnerships with other agencies.
    • Experience of multiagency safeguarding procedures and responsibilities.
    • Ability to write and present reports and keep case note up to date.
    • Ability to use Share Point, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
    • Ability to make presentations to groups and professionals
    • Self-motivating and self-administrating.
    • Understanding of the issues faced by young people in care and care leavers.
    • Ability to engage with young people.
    • Ability to be solutions focussed and has a "Can Do" positive attitude.
    • Ability to use social media and manage social media groups.
    • Ability to lone work/remote work.
    • Ability to form trusting relationships with young people.
    • Prepared to work evenings and weekends as and when required.
    • Passionate and committed to improving the lives of young people in care.
    • Excellent listening, communication and organisational skills.
    • Non-judgemental, non-assuming and open minded.
    • Good team player, willing to cover and support team.
    • Flexible and adaptable to changes in service requirements.

    Desirable

    • Experience of working with young people in care or care leavers
    • Experience of working with people labelled 'hard to reach'
    • Knowledge of adverse childhood experiences, attachment and trauma
    • Experience of mentoring
