    Job overview

    The Facilities Team Leader will working closely with their manager. The Team Leader provides local leadership for the team of Facilities Management Assistants (FMAs) at Clock View & other sites as necessary in the future, providing a comprehensive Soft FM service across the sites including catering, cleaning, portering .

    The post holder will stand in for managers for short periods of time on request.

    Candidates should ideally have facilities experience in a supervisory role, Hold or be willing to work towards GCSEs/NVQ level 2, or equivalent qualifications. CIEH Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate, or equivalent. ECDL or equivalent IT qualification. Has previously worked in a
    multi-skilled, multi site environment

    The successful candidate will also have excellent IT and interpersonal skills.

    The candidate must be flexible and may be expected to work weekends and bank holidays from time to time and cover extra shifts when required.

    Main duties of the job

    To provide strong administration skills to the team

    To lead a team, allocating, prioritising, monitoring and carrying out tasks. Assist Line Manager with the recruitment and development of the staff providing training within the department.

    Carry out annual Personal Development Plans with staff to review performance, training needs and to set objectives for the forthcoming year. Review the above with regular supervision meetings.

    To ensure the accurate recording and input of shifts worked by staff within the department. This will also include the authorising and accurate recording of leave and sickness.

    Ensuring all staff within the department attend and are kept up to date with mandatory training as well as training specific to the role.
    Manage the provision of clothing and safety equipment for their team of staff, ensuring adequate replacements when appropriate.
    To ensure all equipment is kept in a secure, operable and clean condition at all times, reporting hazards, defects or adverse incidents in line with operational procedures.

    To stand in for, or represent their manager when required.

    To be responsible for providing work rotas that complement the smooth and efficient running of Operational Activity.
    To lead on all aspects (ordering, safety, menu reviews) and participate in the production of high quality meals.

    Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To lead and maintain the highest standards in catering practices both in the preparation and presentation of the patients' / customers' meals.
  • To ensure that the catering staff have adequate clean uniforms, overalls, footwear and that protective clothing is worn at all times.
  • To ensure that catering staff meet personal hygiene standards and ensure all catering practices comply with HACCP guidelines.
  • To assist in the implementation and supervision of cleaning schedules which are supplied and maintain the highest standards throughout the locations.
  • To be responsible for the safe use and maintenance of equipment and the reporting of faulty equipment.
  • To comply fully with the Food Safety Management System.
  • To ensure that meals meet agreed standards for quantity, quality and appearance and are produced and distributed on time in order to meet agreed schedules and deadlines.
  • To be responsible for checking the quality of food items delivered to the kitchen and stock rotation of provisions both in refrigerators / freezers and store rooms.
  • To be responsible for the economic use of provisions to ensure minimal wastage.
  • To identify risks relating to the operation of the kitchen with regards to HACCP, COSHH, Health and Safety and risk assessments and support in the taking of appropriate action.
  • To respond to all customer comments.
  • To regularly review menus and recipes.
  • To assist and work with and support the FM Site Manager with capital and change programmes designed to improve the catering service.
  • To operate five days out of seven in line with service needs
