    Overview

    PepsiCo is looking to hire R&D Manager on a 12 months FTC role based in Beaumont Park, Leicester.

    This position is part of the ESI and Emerging Technology Team within the Global Product Function team.

    A key focus area for this team is to drive and deliver the Early Stage Innovation agenda and specifically, the incumbent will lead projects to execute the development plan of specific emerging technology platforms in order to translate consumer tensions into differentiated innovation solutions. The incumbent will therefore embrace and champion an Innovator Mindset to contribute building internal R&D capability

    Responsibilities

    As R&D Manager you will lead key workstreams which will require a high degree of creative technical thinking to deliver business-relevant market-differentiated solutions.

    • Lead and/or consult on early stage innovation approach for key projects at Global and or Regional level
    • Lead R&D input into constructive discussions for 3 lens assessments, solution finding and trade off analysis, building on commercialization process and business understanding
    • Provide creative innovation solutions to technically complex issues to meet project objectives.
    • Partner with the Function group to tap into specific platform and product expertise for stimuli creation against desired attributes and solution finding
    • Lead generation of compelling & creative product prototypes to illustrate technical possibilities to build business and stakeholder interest / alignment and steer development direction.
    • Understand, design and apply insights from consumer research, concept and product testing to deliver agenda, partnering closely with SCPI.
    • Build external interfaces with Open Innovation Intermediaries, Consultants, Co-manufacturers, Ingredient Suppliers, Seasoning Houses, Flavour Experts and Universities.
    • Identify suitable ingredient vendors and establish collaborative working relationships, ensuring that PepsiCo IP is appropriately protected.

    Qualifications

    • First Degree or equivalent in a Food Science or Chemistry-related discipline.
    • At least 5 years experience in the food industry preferred in R&D function
    • Successful track record of results delivery, demonstrated via history of innovation concepts to commercial application and scale
    • Results oriented people leader with excellent communication skills to influence senior leaders, ability to create vision and articulate fact based information into simple actions
    • Flexible and comfortable with change; ability to balance need to deliver aggressive business innovation goals with scientific excellence
    • Ability to operationalize long term strategies into short term capabilities that result in a pipeline of innovation - balance between local requirements and global reapplication
    • Skilled at understanding consumer foresights and identifying new business possibilities
    • Ability to integrate consumer inputs with technical feasibility and business viability to define platformable innovation briefs
    • Passion for creativity and innovation within a commercially driven environment
    • Proven ability to operate effectively through the product development lifecycle, managing a high level of ambiguity and create and gain alignment for a compelling consumer-based agenda.
    • People management experience to inspire passion and confidence in team's goals.
