    Job Title: Director of Science

    Location: Redbridge, London

    Salary: £59,800 - £65,600 per annum

    Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent

    The Role

    As the Director of Science, you will be instrumental in shaping the delivery of our science curriculum across the key stages. You will lead a dedicated team of educators, ensuring that teaching is both effective and innovative, and supports the learning needs of all students. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced educator who is looking to take the next step in their career and have a significant impact on the outcomes of young people.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the Science department that aligns with the school's overall educational philosophy.
    • Lead, manage, and support the Science teaching staff, promoting continuous professional development and excellence in teaching practices.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the science curriculum through rigorous assessment and quality assurance measures.
    • Ensure the delivery of an engaging and diverse curriculum that inspires and challenges students.
    • Foster an environment that encourages scientific inquiry and critical thinking skills.
    • Collaborate with other department heads and the senior leadership team to promote interdisciplinary learning.
    • Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively.
    • Engage with the wider school community, including parents and external organisations, to promote the sciences.
    About You
    • You hold a qualified teacher status (QTS) in the UK.
    • You have a proven track record of successful science teaching and leadership across multiple key stages.
    • You possess excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate both staff and students.
    • You have a strong understanding of the current educational landscape and curriculum requirements for science.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
    • You are passionate about science education and committed to the development of best practices in teaching and learning.
