    It is an exciting time to come and join the Sepura team. We are on the lookout
    for a Head of Electronics to play a key role within the Development team.
    As an experienced leader managing Electronics engineers you will have a strong
    hands-on technical background with the energy and motivational skills to shape
    the way the RF and Baseband teams deliver products to market and define the

    Cambridge Your role
    As Sepura Head of Electronics you will be based in Cambridge and will lead and
    inspire Sepura's electronic design teams, consisting of RF; Baseband and
    Technicians.

    You will be responsible for ensuring timely delivery of the electronics for the next generation of mission critical radio products and systems from conception through to production, whilst maintaining the current range of products via design improvements and updates and evolving company processes as we move into a new technology.

    A proven track record of energising and motivating teams to consistently deliver will be essential to your success. Your day to day
    Our customer base includes many different industries and markets around the
    world. Our complete TETRA and LTE solutions have been developed specifically
    for users in multiple sectors to face their critical communications challenges. There is no such thing as a typical day here at Sepura. You will be supported by
    your manager and team, as well as collaborating with other departments across
    the business. As Head of Electronics, activities you will be responsible for


    include:

    • Manage and technically guide a talented pool of engineers to deliver innovative solutions.
    • Create an environment with a focus on delivery, ownership and driving for
    high performance.


    • Provide technical input directly to projects. Set and review team deliverables and objectives.
    • Coordinate with project managers and department heads to ensure resources are effectively allocated to technical and design activities to meet project delivery timescales in line with business needs.
    • Ensure customer support issues are managed in line with business priorities.
    • Liaise with the CTO, Advanced Technology Group and Product Managers to support delivery of the product strategy roadmap and create the Electronics roadmap.
    • Set and review objectives for the engineering teams to help them grow
    and achieve their full potential in line with delivering the business strategy.


    • Ensure that the skills and experience of the Electronics teams is mapped
    and is consistent with the technological and business needs for providing
    quality Mission Critical communications products to meet the roadmap.


    • Develop plans to ensure the appropriate skills are available / developed to
    support short, medium and long term business objectives.


    • Ensure processes are adhered to and identify and implement process
    improvement opportunities as they arise.


    • Lead a culture of continuous improvement across the development teams
    through quantitative and qualitative measurements and creation and measurement of KPIs.


    • Liaise with other development and business teams to support manufacturing activities such as yield and capacity improvement investigations.
    • Communicate opportunities and risks to project stakeholders. Some travel will be required.
    This role will require security clearance.
    What you need to succeed
    Qualifications


    • Batchelors degree or equivalent experience in a relevant engineering discipline Experience and skills
    • The role suits someone with hands on design experience of developing electronic hardware who is capable of leading a team through a change in
    technology.

    Hardware Development:

    You will come from a HW development background with extensive experience of HW based development projects from concept through to delivery in medium volume manufacturing environments.


    Hardware Architecture:

    You will have a good understanding of HW systems and architectures with hands-on experience of architecting and designing solutions.


    Decision Making:
    Able to demonstrate examples of taking responsibility
    for making pragmatic decisions.

    People Management:

    You are a well-practiced people manager with extensive experience of setting goals, managing performance, and motivating technical teams and individuals to deliver.


    Problem Solving:

    You will be experienced in delivering solutions to complex problems through a logical process and well versed in the practice of change management.


    Team Leadership & Management:

    Exceptional team leadership and interpersonal skills are essential including recruitment, mentoring & coaching, performance management, motivation, technical guidance and arbitration, workforce and resource planning.


    Priorities and Collaboration:

    You should be able to demonstrate a track record in setting and managing priorities, articulating and gaining engagement for ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and the ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, delivering on time and on budget.


    Integration:

    You will be experienced working cross functionally with Software, Project Management & other technical teams and have a system-wide knowledge of delivering products.


    Technical Knowledge:

    You will have a high level of technical knowledge to be able to create, drive, innovate and assess technical solutions across a wide range of HW technologies, processes and platforms.


    Innovation & Change Management:

    By having proven track record of innovation in process and technical solutions you will be able to deliver creative technical solutions to fast track development, minimising time to market, while maintaining and improving quality.


    Communication:

    You have a demonstrable ability to communicate in a variety of formats at all levels with an appreciation of target audience.


    Strategy & Planning:

    You are able to create HW and team development strategies and deliver them through clear plans and efficient execution.

    Experience and skills

    Commercial Awareness:
    Experience of working in a commercially aware environment, understanding and applying business cases to drive priorities.

    DfM&T:
    Knowledge and expertise in Design for Manufacture and Test.

    Cultural Awareness:
    Experience of multi-site / multi-cultural operation.

    Project Management:
    Theoretical and practical knowledge of project management principles, techniques and tools, and practical experience in
    the successful delivery of multiple inter-related projects.

    Outsourcing:
    Experience with use of contractors working in-house and
    subcontracting work packages.

    Estimation:
    Experience of HW estimation (considering resourcing, task dependencies, tool requirements, and risks).
