    Overview of the position

    · 5OES is currently recruiting for an experienced Environmental Consultant to join our Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental Management Team and cater to the continued growing demand for our services in Oman and the GCC region. 5OES currently provides a range of terrestrial services to the public and private sectors with a strong focus on conventional energy, green energy, hydrogen, industrial and infrastructure projects.

    · This role presents an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to be a part of the high-profile, rapid growth green energy sector in the Oman/ GCC and to join a small but dynamic team of environmental professionals who work in a collaborative, team environment to provide the highest quality services to our clients (mostly large international corporates and investors with representation in the region).

    · The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and adventurous individual with a positive attitude, an ability to motivate and lead others, a passion for experiencing and working in a culturally rich country, and a willingness to enter a new environment to learn and keep up to date with changing legislation and emerging trends in the sectors we support.

    Role and Responsibilities

    · The position is available in the terrestrial team, reporting to the business leads. Specifically, the role will focus on the core areas of impact assessment, baseline surveys and monitoring, with a need for effective project management, contract administration, and liaison and coordination with clients and Regulators. The work includes authoring environmental impact assessments, and coordinating and participating in any necessary field and baseline aspects, supported by our specialists.

    · In addition to the delivery of EIAs, responsibilities may include contributing to environmental management planning, monitoring, and conducting environmental audits and inspections on site, and overseeing the associated reporting.

    Typical duties include:

    · Project management, data collation, collection, analysis and reporting

    o Scheduling new projects and allocating resources.

    o Coordinating team schedules including the delivery of project deliverables and field visits. This may require the need to solicit, review and incorporate inputs from third party experts in related disciplines (e.g. engineering, hydrology, ecology, computer modelers) into project deliverables.

    o Attending regular in-house management, planning and strategy meetings.

    o Ensuring project delivery is executed in accordance with contractual and legislative obligations, such as HSE requirements, professional qualifications, equipment specifications, achieving site access passes, etc.

    o Ensuring timely delivery of project deliverables, including their QA/QC.

    o Managing team resources and identifying if and where additional resources, whether internal or external, may be required to deliver projects.

    o Where additional resource for staff or equipment is required, preparing a brief business case for presentation to the senior management for feedback and approval.

    o As and when required providing on the job mentoring and Identify opportunities for capacity building with part/ full time team members.

    · Management of project financials in coordination with accounts team and project director/general manager, including:

    o Pricing of new projects or variations to contract

    o Producing and ensuring delivery of invoices

    o Active follow-up of client invoices

    o Approval of petty cash for field work for team members

    · Maintain current client relationships and develop a network of local and international contacts for the development of new business opportunities and leads through active client selection, face to face meetings, responding to inbound enquiries, monitoring websites and media publications for tender announcements or quotation requests and participation in conferences, workshops etc.

    · Assist in the management of the company ISO 14001:2015 procedures. Integration of ISO, disseminating audit outcomes and required actions within the EIA context.

    · Other roles may include overseeing the maintenance of equipment, handling laboratory interactions and supporting the day to day running of projects, as required.

    · Coordinating administrative tasks relating to the role of technical staff and associates for the efficient running of the business unit.

    · Any other reasonable duties as required by senior management.

    The key requirements of the post will be:

    · A qualification in environmental science, ecology, environmental engineering, planning, or related fields that gives the candidate the necessary knowledge required by this role

    · A minimum of 5+ years post-graduate technical experience in fulfilling similar functions or in a similar role

    · Experience working with IFC standards and executing ESIA's to incorporate international standards expected by project finance/ lenders technical advisors.

    The following will be an advantage:

    · Master's level degree

    · Chartered status and/or member ship of professional organisations (e.g. MIEEM, MIEMA, MRUP, MIPI, CIWEM)

    The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to:

    · Manage, oversee and deliver projects to client expectations

    · Oversee, guide, and supervise and lead other team members and sub-consultants to deliver project requirements

    · Take ownership of projects from inception to completion (including project budgets) and provide regular progress reports to the Directors and clients

    · Report on project performance

    · Prioritise projects while managing client expectations, staff resources, and project deadlines

    · Win new work by preparing and overseeing the preparation of fee proposals, identifying opportunities in the marketplace, and ensuring a steady workflow
