    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time permanent post for a Young Peoples Substance Misuse Team Lead at our Harrow Young Peoples service.

    The Team Leader will be responsible for the leadership and co-ordination of a team of Children and Young people workers in the field of substance use and sexual health. Staff will be providing face to face intervention, workforce training programmes and the engagement and participation of support for young people. The post holder will also have line management responsibility for the Practitioners/Support workers. This role will work directly with named leads within settings and will implement, review and enhance the quality of service provision, mobilise peer support networks to share experiential learning and best practice.

    Compass is the sole provider of substance misuse treatment for young people in the London Borough of Harrow. The service is set up to provide and deliver all elements of the treatment system. The service has been providing structured and targeted interventions to young people engaging in or at risk of substance misuse.

    Working hours will be Monday Friday, 37 hours per week, which will include at least one evening per week and Saturdays on a monthly rota.

    Main duties of the job

    The post holder will be based in the Harrow HUB and will work directly with Harrow probation, The Metropolitan Police, Mind, Children and Families service, Commissioners, Adult drug treatment services, The Harrow foundation and Northwick Park Hospital as well as other partnerships on the Harrow area. Holding a relevant qualification in substance misuse/youth work/psychology/counselling/ mental health/social care/ Social work and will also:

  • Have experience of working with at risk/vulnerable young people in a community setting
  • Be knowledgeable about: safeguarding children, confidentiality, consent and mental capacity and Hidden Harm
  • Adopt a flexible approach to work hours and locations
  • Delivering training packages
  • Supervising and managing people through change/transition
  • Undertaking individual or group staff supervisions both clinical and safeguarding
  • Previous mentorship /preceptorship experience
  • Delegating and supervising others

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Degree or equivalent NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care
  • Desirable

  • Specialist qualification in sexual health and contraception or equivalent experience or a
  • qualification in substance misuse/youth work/psychology/counselling
  • RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse Level 1&2
  • Experience
