    Description

    Applications are invited for a Research Assistant to join our team at OrthoBio Therapeutics, based in the CRUK Cambridge Institute at the University of Cambridge, where you will be responsible for supporting a programme of research focused on the evaluation of gene-editing solutions for musculoskeletal disease.

    We are looking for a talented, self-reliant individual who brings cutting-edge laboratory skills to support the design, execution, and interpretation of ongoing work with CRISPR-Cas9 and other gene editing platforms.

    Essential requirements

  • Master's degree in Cell/Molecular Biology, Genetics, Cancer Biology, Immunology or a similar discipline
  • At least 1 year of full-time laboratory experience with aseptic cell culture techniques
  • Experience with quantitative PCR, ELISA and Western blot
  • Experience with viral and/or non-viral transfection methods
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a hard-working, motivated, and enthusiastic team
  • Proactive and flexible, with proven ability to perform on tight timelines.
  • Effective in oral and written communication with excellent organisational and record keeping skills Desirable skills
  • At least one year working as a wet lab Research Assistant
  • Experience with flow cytometry, nucleic acid/protein extraction and primer design
  • Experience with primary cell and ex vivo cultures
  • Experience with gene editing technologies such as CRISPR-Cas9, siRNA, TALEN, etc.
  • Experience with RNA biology, including in-vitro transcription protocols
  • Experience with next-generation sequencing technologies
  • Home Office personal licence and experience working with laboratory animals This is a full-time position with a very competitive salary and benefits package that is funded for 24 months in the first instance. Candidates may on occasion be asked to work outside of normal working hours. Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment and a security check.
