    Salary: MPS/UPS: £30,000 - £46,525 per annum

    Contract Type: Full-Time

    GSL Education are seeking a dynamic and experienced educator to join an outstanding Secondary School's team as Second in English . The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head of Department in leading the English department and ensuring the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning experiences for students.

    Second in English Responsibilities:

    • Assist the Head of Department in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the English curriculum.
    • Model exemplary teaching practices and provide guidance and support to colleagues in the department.
    • Lead by example in delivering engaging and effective English lessons that inspire students and promote academic excellence
    • Liaise with parents, staff, and students, and maintain a good relationship with all parties.
    • Manage high levels of student attainment through strong leadership and supervision.
    • Coordinate and deliver professional development opportunities for English department staff, focusing on pedagogy, curriculum updates, and best practices.

    Second in English Requirements:

    • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a Degree in English .
    • Significant experience teaching English at the secondary level, with a proven track record of successful outcomes.
    • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of current trends and research in English education.
    • Hold an enhanced Child Workforce DBS , registered on the update service, or be willing to obtain one through GSL Education.
