Job Description Summary:

Our engineers dedicated to Naval get involved in solving exciting challenges through leading the development and delivery of the engineering aspects of our projects.

Projects that range from designing, following and delivery of new power / propulsion and energy system solutions alongside digital & automation technologies to our UK and international customers both to surface and submarine systems.


Research and development are key to what we do, and you will have the opportunity to influence the development of future surface, shore based and submarine design concepts as well as the development of new capabilities, tools and processes.


This role is based at our factory in Rugby (Warwickshire) but travels to suppliers & other locations can be expected.


You will need to manage Supplier and Project Quality activities on the Naval projects, ensuring that the quality requirements are cascaded, managing product qualification & supplier surveillance activities.

You will provide support from initial inquiry to project closure.


The role will require both hands on and office-based activities ensuring the delivery of components that are safe, meeting quality requirements, cost effective and on time.


The duties can vary day to day and month to month, depending on the project progress, Customer interactions and the status of the future projects.


Ready for a new, exciting career opportunity, you will report directly to the Europe Supplier Quality Leader & functionally to the Project Directors, collaborating with a strong & diverse engineering and quality community.

The majority of the work will involve managing the overall GE scope quality on several Naval projects.

Aa a Naval Quality Leader you will lead Project Quality & Supplier Quality teams and liaise with Factories, Engineering and Procurement teams to deliver the integration of large electro-mechanical systems.

You will need to provide direction/leadership to the staff of Naval Quality Teams (Project Quality & Supplier Quality) on operational activities such as cascading of contract quality requirements throughout the supply chain, development and updates of project quality plans, follow-up and resolution of quality issues along execution as well as RFT (Right First Time), on time gathering and delivery of project customer documentation.


As part of this role, you will also have responsibility for the following activities:

  • Manages the workload within the team through regular assessments and take adjustment actions as necessary such as e.g. bubble assignments or hiring of temporary resources. Provides flexible management of workload between project and supplier quality scope.
  • Ensures flawless management of critical interfaces of the value chain such as e.g. Engineering, Sourcing, Factories and Supplier's Quality liaises regularly with the respective function leaders to identify and resolve potential bottlenecks.
  • Develops a strong relationship with executing lead Factory in Rugby, enabling flawless cascading of project requirements and effective assistance during customer inspections.
  • Coordinates effectively with the Lead project quality Management team (Lead PQM) to jointly resolve critical customer requests and/or issues, incl. report out to Customer.
  • Successfully coaches the Team on complex quality issues raised along project execution that request crossfunctional coordination, offers tailored solutions and enables their successful implementation across the value chain.
  • Be accountable for Naval project's quality deliverables.
  • Act as Naval projects Nuclear Safety Leader.
  • Ensures sharing of Lessons Learned.
  • Issue relevant project procedures according to the business' processes.
  • Assists in other areas of the business as required.

You are a professional who:


  • Has extensive industrial experience in Quality and or a similar role (technical or operational), preferably in a Nuclear environment.
  • Has a strong quality background.
  • Has strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Has the ability to lead and influence crossfunctional business teams, to develop team members and to drive quality improvements
  • Has a Quality Assurance mindset (no compromise on Quality) and convey this approach to other functions.
  • Has a valid full UK driving licence.
