    Job Title: Occupational Therapist

    Band: Band 6

    Trust: South London & Maudsley NHSFoundation Trust

    Location: Speedwell Community mental health centre,Speedwell Street

    Ward/Dept: Lewisham Downham CMHT Neighbourhood2C

    Hours : or less / 9am-5pm / Monday-Friday

    Main duties of the job

    In this role, you will provide an occupational therapy serviceto service users with complex needs within the neighbourhood community mentalhealth team. This will include specialist OT assessment, planning andintervention to promote wellbeing, recovery and empowering person-centredpractice. Although this is a dedicated OT post, the post holder will berequired to hold and integrate both the OT specific and generic elements oftheir job whilst complying with the college of Occupational Therapists Code ofEthics and Professional Conduct. The post holder will participate in thedevelopment, delivery and evaluation of both the Occupational Therapy and MDTinterventions as required to promote a recovery focused service.

    Job description

    Job responsibilities

    To be anintegrated team member within the multidisciplinary neighbourhood teamproviding specialist Occupational Therapy Assessment and Interventions andworking within the MDT to address occupational and Recovery goals.

    To apply a high level of understanding of theeffect of physical disability and recommend adaptations to the clients physicaland social environment.

    To assess and manage ongoing risks ensuring thisis done in collaboration with service users and carers.

    To promote the empowerment of individual serviceusers to manage their health as much as possible and use of Self-DirectedSupport where indicated.

    To utilise a comprehensive set of skills toeffectively communicate and engage with service users, their families and theMDT to formulate individuals' strengths and barriers within an Occupationallyfocused clinical framework.

    To work effectively and responsively as memberof clinical team and implement core decisions with regard to service users careand contribute to the duty rota.

    Work in partnership with other relevant agenciesto ensure appropriate delivery of care plans.

    To contribute to the implementation of theOccupational Therapy Strategy in Lewisham and participate in service andoccupational therapy evaluations, clinical pathways, development of serviceimprovement projects and models oaf care as required.

    To provide leadership and professional expertisein line with clinical experience.

    To provide supervision and preceptorship of Band5 OTs and students and take opportunities to influence best practice andlearning.

    To actively contribute to the process of servicedevelopment and evaluation within Lewishams community services.

  • HCPC registration
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Post registration experience
