    Description
    Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) Lawyer

    You will be advising on the development and implementation of the bank's strategic Sustainability agenda, as well as day-to-day support to Barclays business' across the group on transactional and BAU queries.

    Supporting all aspects of Barclays' Sustainability agenda, including but not limited to policy de-velopment and Sustainable Finance product development


    • Providing technical expertise on key pieces of emerging UK and European banking and financial regulatory changes, including CSRD, and supporting the legal work
    • Strategically inputting into Barclays' house view on policy proposals and advocacy positions across a range of issues that have the potential to impact our Sustainability strategy
    • Working alongside Legal colleagues to ensure continuous Legal coverage for Sustainability on a global basis; and meeting regularly with Legal colleagues to identify regional issues, etc
    • Instructing and managing Barclays relationships with external counsel across multiple jurisdic-tions, reviewing advice and legal opinions and liaising with internal stakeholders
    Experienced Advisory Lawyer with significant legal experience gained in-house or in a challenging private practice environment


    • Ability to advise on new and evolving technical areas of law without established precedent
    Skills that will help you in the role:


    • Ability to provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders and effectively balance legal and commercial risks
    • Awareness of regulatory issues and confidence in advising on key risk issues and mitigants, and helping the businesses to make decisions
    • Technical legal skills and academic background
