Senior Research Software Engineer, £43k - £53k, hybrid working/Manchester, plus excellent benefits.
I am recruiting an experienced Senior Research Software Engineer for a unique and renowned research organisation based in Manchester. The role plays a pivotal role in their Research IT function.


The Senior Research Software Engineer will work closely with a senior figure within Artificial Intelligence to help develop AI and ML solutions.


This role combines the best of two worlds:

the ability to run and shape the software development activity ofa cutting-edge group of probabilistic and machine learning researchers at a world leading institution, while also allowing you to help lead the Research Software Engineering (RSE) service.

Ideally from a research-based IT background, the post-holder will developand project manage the projects they are involved with.


Key Skills and Background

  • Experience in algorithm development and their implementation in software.
  • Experience of probabilistic modelling.
  • Experience of machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI).
  • Experience in the complete software engineering lifecycle.
  • A passion for supporting research and research software.
  • Knowledge of Python, C++, Java or R.
  • A commitment to personal and professional development and a desire to learn.
  • Meticulous organisation, time and project management skills and experience.
  • Experience using software engineering tools and processes including version control, agile tooling (e.g. Jira, GitHub Projects, KANBAN), code reviews and pull requests.
