Our dedicated HTS magnet team, in collaboration with key manufacturing partners, is focussed on becoming the leading supplier of HTS magnets to multiple markets.

    The company, founded in 2009 as a spin-off from the UK's Culham Centre for Fusion Energy, currently employs a growing team of over 250 people with experts from the UK and around the world. It combines world leading scientific, engineering, industrial and commercial capabilities. The company has 70 families of patent applications and has raised $250 million, comprising $200m from private investors and $50m from the UK and US governments. Our US subsidiary, Tokamak Energy Inc, was established in 2019.

    Overview of the role

    In our pursuit of commercial fusion energy, Tokamak Energy seeks to forge industrial and research collaborations with partners and governments throughout the world. To do this effectively, we need to identify the highest-value collaboration and funding opportunities and target them with high-impact funding proposals that offer excellent value for money and deliver maximum technology development potential. As a UK Fusion Account Manager, you will lead our biggest UK accounts, establishing strong long-lasting relationships with key stakeholders, as well as managing the bidding process, from opportunity qualification to proposal submission.

    This is an exciting opportunity to support a growing business development team to unlock access to public/private fusion funding opportunities more than £1bn both in the UK and abroad.     In this role, you will:

    • Serve as the lead point of contact to build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships for all UK accounts.
    • Develop trusted advisor relationships with key UK accounts, stakeholders and executive sponsors.
    • Help to establish, run and continual develop Tokamak Energy's fusion proposals management function.
    • Lead the entire proposal management lifecycle, including:
      • Establishing bid/no bid process and forum
      • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to write compelling and persuasive technical content
      • Establishing clear and competitive pricing models
      • Driving and managing delivery of multiple compliant proposals
      • Conduct post-bid analysis to identify areas of improvement and implement lessons learned for future bids.
    • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of our solutions according to UK accounts needs and objectives.
    • Clearly communicate the progress of initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Assist with challenging client requests or issue escalations as needed.
    • Develop new business with existing clients and/or identify areas of improvement to help deliver TE's UK Fusion strategy.
    • Due to agile nature of our business, you may be required to provide input into a range of initiatives across the strategic and business development functions.
    • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field.
    • Clear experience of successfully developing, managing and sustaining strong relationships with complex stakeholder accounts.
    • Demonstrable experience of leading successful proposals for complex technical projects or large-scale bids.
    • Knowledge of UK government procurement processes and regulations.
    • Being well acquainted with the UK market, contract laws and regulations.
    • Ability to implement budgetary and cost-control measures with solid negotiation and persuasive skills.
    • Experience in proposal development in the technology and engineering sectors
    • Experience in proposal development in the energy sector
    • 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays and 3 festive days to be used between Christmas and the New Year)

    Working arrangements

    Please note this role does offer hybrid working, our model sets out a minimum 60% onsite / 40% home working split .
