    Description

    An unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist with a passion for working with older adults to support the inpatient mental health service based at NewHaven, The Princess of Wales Community Hospital.

    We are seeking a motivated individual with a passion for older adult mental health and person-centred care.
    a dynamic physiotherapist, who loves building rapport with patients:
    committed to delivering high-quality care
    an experienced band 5, ready to take on a band 6 post? Or: A band 6 physio ready for the next challenge?
    a caseload requiring skills from a broad range of rehabilitation specialities
    to work creatively with physical activity to improve wellbeing.

    Previous experience in mental health is desirable, however is not essential as the post holder would receive peer clinical supervision with an emphasis on supporting mental health patients.

    undertake physiotherapy assessments and treatment of patients who have been admitted to hospital due to their mental health needs, including dementia.

    use health promotion, interpersonal skills and physical activity to promote physical wellbeing and to reduce risk of physical deterioration.

    maintain clinical record keeping and use Trust IT systems.
    use 1:1 exercise intervention, group activity, and support patients with accessing the community
    support the Occupational Therapy Team with community assessments.
    Improve the provision of physical activity through service development and quality assurance
    educate health care professionals, physiotherapy students, carers in physiotherapeutic management. provide physiotherapy assessment to the Older Adult Hospital at Home Service

    take a lead in the physiotherapy assessment of patients, develop individualised treatment plans using clinical reasoning
    communicate effectively with patients and carers to maximise rehabilitation potential.

    assess mental capacity for physiotherapy interventions provided and work within a legal framework with patients who lack the capacity to consent to treatment.

    demonstrate understanding of clinical governance and risk management and apply this to working with patients who may have high levels of risk associated with their mental health presentation.

    support Physiotherapy students on clinical placement.

    undertake Manual Handling Assessor training, to support the delivery of mandatory training for clinical staff and to provide support to carers.

    undertake training in Safety Intervention.
    Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
    Evidence of relevant post- graduate) courses/CPD maintained in portfolio
    A minimum of 2 years post graduate experience including work in a variety of specialities
    Experience of supervision of junior staff or students.
    Experience of delegation to qualified/unqualified staff

    Experience within relevant clinical field
    Experience at Band 6
    Excellent knowledge of physiotherapy in relevant areas.
    Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats
    Able to meet the travel requirements of the post
