    The work you will be doing

    It's a busy time for the Planning Policy team at Swale and we need an enthusiastic and conscientious Planning Officer to join us and help progress our Local Plan review.

    With coastline, countryside and towns, we can offer diverse and interesting experience working with a supportive and committed team.

    You will be involved in the preparation and implementation of development and design policies and advice, as well as the production of evidence bases, development briefs and planning guidance.

    You will also be responsible for preparing and presenting the Council's case at appeals, inquiries, hearings, Court Hearings and Examinations in Public commensurate to grade; and will support the preparation and presentation of reports to member Working Groups and Committees as required.

    What you will bring to this role

    You will hold an appropriate undergraduate degree/diploma.

    You should have a good understanding of the roles of a variety of consultees including Ward Councillors and Statutory Consultees, as well as Local and National policy making and the process of Local Plan and other Policy consultations.

    Additionally, you will have excellent knowledge of the principal differences between planning in the urban area and the countryside.
