    Project Manager (Gloucestershire) – Civils/WaterSector


    Our client is one of the largest privately-owned civil engineering and infrastructure specialists with 40 years of experience working UK-wide and providing design, construction and maintenance services across the water, transport, built environment and energy sectors.

    Our client employs a direct workforce of over 800 employees nationwide.

    They recognise that their business is only as good as the people they employ, which is why they value them so highly and invest in regular training and development, utilising their dedicated training facility in Walsall.


    The Role:


    The Project Manager is to deliver multiple on-going projects, to the specified quality, the required programme and to the maximum commercial performance.

    The role also involves working closely with the Estimating Department, site delivery teams and surveyors to ensure that projects are completed in a safe manner, whilst ensuring customer requirements and expectations are always maintained or exceeded.

    The initial scheme is a large pipelines project due to enter ECI Phase in July, with main works due to commence in early 2025.


    Key Responsibilities:
    General Management

    Produce financial forecasts, monitoring and controlling project costs and cost reporting, and produce monthly reports to Contracts Manager on project performance, efficient team building and labour organisationnDeliver projects from design phase to completion including all handover documentationnReview progress, budget resources and forward planningnReview work packages and ensure scope of work is clearly defined and understoodnChair weekly site meetings and ensure the production of accurate records of any discussions and actionsnBuild and maintain good relationships with the customer, framework suppliers, and design consultantsnDevelop and maintain construction programmesnCo-ordinate and manage site investigations during the ongoing construction processnDevelop engineering solutions in order that a buildable cost-effective construction solution is delivered that fulfils the client's requirementsnEnsure production and implementation of Project Plans, risk assessments, method statements, site waste management plans, and procurement of plant and materials are in line with company proceduresnEnsure detailed site diaries/records are completednMaintain commercial tension to drive out cost and challenge the status quonPrepare comprehensive estimates for additional work outside target costsnAssist with estimating new tendersnChase potential new clients

    Health, safety and environmental

    By example, set the highest possible standards of leadership in promotion of HS&E procedures and best practice, ensuring compliance with Company procedures and legal obligationsnEnsure all HSE-related documents are kept up to datenProduce monthly reports for HSE teamnAllocate HSE responsibilities and duties for site personnel, check understanding and provide training as necessarynEnsure that all subcontractors take appropriate steps to follow our clients procedures and processesnEnsure that site waste management plans and site-specific environmental risk assessments are produced and maintainednLiaise with third parties to ensure compliance with HSG47, HAUC, NRSWA and Chapter 8 and other required regulatory standardsnProvide training and briefings to the team, in particular to lead cascade briefings, TBT's, 3 Pillar Forums and general briefings

    QualitynBe responsible for managing and producing ITP's and ensure they are signed off by relevant partiesnEnsure that the QA File is produced and maintainednClose out any technical queriesnEnsure as-builts and O&M manuals are submitted to the client on completion


    Person Specification:
    The successful candidate will have extensive experience of managing projects within Civil and Water sectors, also the candidate is likely to meet all of the following criteria:


    Good working knowledge of contract conditions, CDM regulations, Design Management, Programme & Risk Management and cost control including forecasting, actual cost and value reporting.

    nAbility to use Primavera P6 software or equivalentnDegree/HNC in Civil Engineering, or equivalentnCSCS manager's cardnSMSTSnKnowledge of the NEC contract including the Early Warning and Compensation Event mechanismsnExcellent communication, people and team management skills, with the ability to influence, motivate and mentornAbility to challenge designs and resolve problems to conclusionnAbility to manage and deliver a successful project with minimal guidancenProblem solving and analytical thinkingnExperience of a direct labour organisation
