  • Main duties of the job

    ABL Health have been commissioned by Sandwellmetropolitan borough council to deliver a high quality and Tier 2 Adult Weightmanagement Service across the Sandwell borough. The Project Lead will assistthe Head of Service for the development and operational management of the AdultWeight Management Service in the community, primary care, and secondary caresettings. This is a leadership role where the post holder will have a realinfluence on the clinical and operational excellence of these elements of the service.The post holder will take a pro-active lead in building relationships,partnerships and alliances in the community, secondary care, and primary caresettings, and supporting health lifestyle practitioners in these areas todeliver outcomes that benefit clients referred to the service. They will beresponsible for the line management of staff covering the Sandwell borough.

    The post holder must have extensive knowledge andhands-on experience in public health or behaviour-change settings.

    Job responsibilities

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    The post holder has responsibilityof delivering the following key result areas:

    Provide a leadership role in service planning, development, implementation,and coordination of the stop smoking service.

    To develop and coordinate a team of HealthyLifestyle Practitioners to ensure they provide evidence based effectiveinterventions to Sandwell residents.

    Line manage a team of Healthy Lifestyle Practitioners and beresponsible for supervision and day to day management.

    Actively involved in the promotion and advertisement of the YourHealth Sandwell.

    To support the Healthy Lifestyle team with their professionaldevelopment ensuring audits and observations are scheduled regularly.

    To take accountability and responsibility for KPIs and ensureweekly/monthly updates are provided to the Head of Service.

    Work collaboratively with key stakeholders in the community, primary care,and secondary care to ensure a seamless referral pathway and feedback system isadhered to and improved where necessary.

    Input to multi -disciplinary meetings as required.

    Work in partnership with community organisations, primary care, secondarycare, and community stakeholders to disseminate campaigns related to the adultweight management.

    Increase referrals by promoting and communicating with otherprofessionals.

    Contribute to the social values of the service.

    Work with indirect minimal supervision.

    Work within agreed boundaries and relevant policies and standardoperating procedures.

    Plan and organise workloads effectively

    Where necessary, provide session cover and the delivery of evidence-basedhealthy lifestyle support, in line with NICE guidelines

    Ensure robust client records are up to date at all times.

    Use reflection and evaluation to improve service delivery.

    Deliver MECC/VBA training to appropriate professionals and otherstakeholders.

    This role will develop over timeand therefore it is expected that post holder will have additionalresponsibilities

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in the health-related field: Nutrition, Fitness, Dietetics, Nursing, Public Health
  • Delivery/management experience , weight management behaviour change.
  • Desirable

  • Masters Qualification or equivalent
  • Quality improvement certification or equivalent
  • Level 3 Cimspa recognised qualification in personal training and group exercise
  • Demonstrable experience in working with external boards, and steering groups to improve lifestyle / behaviour change outcomes for the population
  • Experience in working with commissioners.
  • Skills and Knowledge

    Essential

  • Understanding of Health Improvement, behaviour change and local, regional, and national policies.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to influence others to increase motivation and performance.
  • Excellent report-writing skills
  • Excellent at analysing and presenting data.

  • Ability to work under high pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
