    The Central route covers a major part of the national rail network, with hundreds of thousands of passengers, and thousands of tonnes of freight carried within our route each week.

    We are currently recruiting for our Worcester Depot.
    You'll help keep our nation moving every single day.

    With your willingness to learn, you'll develop a huge range of technical skills across a range of manual, electrical and digital equipment.

    Our Team Leaders work outside in all conditions, at all times of the year, day or night.

    Being safety focused, respectful of rules and a team player will be critical as you'll often be working next to moving trains travelling at highspeed.

    Establish and maintain appropriate safety arrangements for staff under your control including Contractors.


    • Control and check the quality of work undertaken and confirm assets are compliant to standards.
    • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
    Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.


    • Knowledge and experience of permanent way inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal techniques.
    • Ideally hold (or be working towards) an NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject or have attained the appropriate level of knowledge gained through equivalent relevant experience.
    • Desirable only- Experience in mechanical signalling

    Shifts - Team leader roles involve a changing shift pattern including days, nights and weekends.

    Outdoor working - Our technicians work outside in all weathers and so you'll be comfortable working in different conditions.

    Safe working - Offers of employment are subject to drug and alcohol testing and passing of the relevant medical assessment and BPSS pre-employment checks.

    Driving - As a technician you'll also need a driving licence (category B) so you can drive Network Rail vehicles.
