    Job Description

    As the Health & Safety Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective operation of our services while adhering to all relevant legislation, company policies, and industry standards.

    Key Responsibilities


    •To be a member of the management team and participate in the continuous development of the overall service provision.

    •Develop good relationships with hospital staff in line with best practice management, to ensure satisfaction with our service, commitment to our long-term presence and the further extension of our business within the hospital and other hospitals.

    •Ensure confidentiality, privacy and dignity is maintained at all times in accordance with the Data Protection Act and in line with Company and Trust policy, where appropriate.

    •Conduct yourself in a professional manner whilst on Trust and Company premises.

    •Participate in regular team meetings, performance reviews, job chats, return to work discussions accident and investigations.

    •Engage in the process to identify your own personal development and training needs and attend agreed training programmes.

    •To carry out all tasks with due regard to the contract specification and all legislation including COSHH, Health & Safety and Personal Hygiene.

    •To ensure correct materials and methods are used at all times and equipment is kept clean and in good working order. Report faulty machinery/equipment immediately.

    •To use every effort to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the Client and ISS colleagues.

    •To provide direction, guidance, and support to all staff within the contract to ensure they are able to carry out their role effectively and safely.

    •To manage and evaluate objectives and targets for the service as outlined in the business plan.

    •To undertake project work as required by the General Manager.

    •To maintain a healthy, safe, and secure working environment in line with current legislation and company policies and procedures.

    •To deal with any incidents or complaints speedily and effectively within company procedures.

    •To implement appropriate personnel policies as required in respect of all staff groups and take appropriate action where necessary.

    •To manage and maintain the processes and systems used to manage health and safety on site.

    •To ensure the appropriate management personnel are reviewing the policies, procedures, and RAMS on time and at regular intervals.

    •To be a nominated Health & Safety Leader for ISS, and to hold regular consultative meetings with staff representatives. To carry out the duties of an ISS Health & Safety Leader as these duties are identified and evolve.

    Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications


    •Relevant qualifications in Health & Safety management.

    •Ability to communicate with all levels of staff effectively.

    •Well-developed presentation skills.

    •Good planning skills with the ability to monitor status and ensure completion.

    •IT literate with knowledge of MS Office applications.

    •Knowledge of legislation, COSHH, and Health & Safety regulations.

    •Proven leadership and managerial experience.
