    Description

    As a LSS Certification Engineer, having extensive technical skills and considerable knowledge in ISO 17065 processes and procedures together with UK regulations knowledge, you will interpret and support client requirements to ensure their products are produced safely, legally and meets the highest standards of quality prior to going to market.

    ABOUT YOU

    Required skills and experience:

    • Relevant knowledge of Life Safety Systems standards such as EN 54-2, EN54-4, EN54-5, EN54-17, EN or other EN54 series/equivalent of standards
    • Relevant knowledge on equipment covered under the CPR Regulation
    • Review Technical Construction Files (TCF)
    • Strong knowledge of ISO 17065 and ISO 17025
    • Ensure scopes of accreditation are updated with the latest test standards
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • An electrical or similar engineering degree or diploma or equivalent higher education/experience
    • Experience of Fire Detection compliance and certification / surveillance
    • Relevant knowledge of Fire Detection Standard standards all related EN54 series.
    • Ability to document certification results/ write reports
    • Ability to increase knowledge on new or amended standards including identifying new equipment
    • Functional Safety will be strongly viewed as a differentiator

    ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

    As a LSS Certification Engineer, you will be involved in various activities, such as validating test programs of customer equipment (Sounders, Heat Detectors, Manual Call Point / Control and Indication equipment) to a wide range of regulatory standards (European under Directive 89/106/EEC) and/or UKCA: The Construction Products Regulations

    Key responsibilities:

    • Deliver certification and provide technical expertise across a range of National and International
    • Conducts Technical File assessments against the Product Scheme and standards
    • Provide pre-assessments and formal ISO 17025 assessments/audits of Manufacturers' own Test Laboratories in accordance with Intertek's Satellite laboratory program and relevant International Certification Schemes
    • Carries out technical reviews of reports to accept test work from Intertek or other test laboratories
    • Assesses client's approval requirements against published approvals standards
    • Prepares or approve test programs
    • Conducts internal audits of Intertek and non-Intertek laboratories and locations in accordance with ISO 17065 and internal procedures
    • Reviews test reports and prepares/issue relevant certificates
    • Represents Intertek's interests with external bodies (e.g. standards committees; Scheme Working Groups)
    • Supports the business with related technical queries and assists Sales with the preparation of quotations and attendance at key commercial/technical meetings as required
