At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose to improve people's lives.
We are currently seeking an apprentice to join the council's Health, Safety and Wellbeing Team to support the organisations health and safety management system. This is a unique opportunity to complete a Health, Safety and Wellbeing apprenticeship applying the technical skills learned in a practical environment supported by a team of experienced Health, Safety and Wellbeing professionals.
As part of this role, you will undertake and complete Safety, Health and Environment Technician Apprenticeship at Level 3.
The apprenticeship will typically take 24 months to complete. You will complete training for 20% of your working time, including from an apprenticeship training provider. More information on the apprenticeship can be found here:
Safety, Health and Environment Technician / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education
As an apprentice, you will work with the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Team, as well as other teams and services of the organisation to help advise on statutory health, safety and environmental requirements as they affect council operations. You will assist colleagues to develop, review and check on the implementation of safe systems of work, deliver training (e.g. toolbox talks & inductions), investigate incidents, analyse data and present findings to the management team.
You will engage with all aspects of the organisation to support the embedment of a culture that ensures everyone is able to return to their family and friends unharmed every day whilst also protecting and enhancing the global land, air and water resources for future generations. This will be achieved by inspiring and influencing others to see the benefit of working responsibly, understanding the legal framework and showing how safety, health and environmental management can enhance operational activities.
