    About the role

    Balfour Beatty Highwaysmaintain, manage and operate major highway networks across the UK and support local authorities creating communities where people want to live work and play.

    We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a strong project background to join this fast-paced team to deliver the more complex highways and technology schemes throughout their whole project lifecycle.

    Schemes range in value from £100k to £3m+ and include safety schemes, environmental improvements, technology schemes, remedial works, and junction improvement schemes.

    Project Management of M25 Highways schemes, on behalf of the client (Connect Plus/ Highways) of renewal and/or improvement projects from design inception to close out following construction project types varying from structures, tunnels, highways and technology across the M25 network.

    The role offers flexible working for that better work/life balance and can be based from Dartford, Leatherhead or South Mimms however 1 day a week at Dartford is required as a minimum.

    What you'll be doing Responsible for several projects at different stages of the project lifecycle.


    Within each project responsibility for:

    End to end management of the project, to include scheme development and engagement through the life of the project with the asset team, designers, sub-consultants, construction team and contractors.

    Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to include but not limited to Planner, Construction Manager, Project QS, Asset and Designers.

    Management of the P6 programme with the planning team, including identification of critical path activities.

    Commercial management of the project to include but not limited to cost plan, supply chain quotations, review and approval of invoices, forecasting, review of applications with the commercial team.

    Commission and manage internal and external resources in terms of quality, budget and programme. Lead on Gateways and collaborative cost reviews with the Client and project team.

    Adhere and apply the project governance procedure, including leading in presentations both virtual and in person with preparation of the supporting documentation to pass through project gateways.

    Routine reporting on project schedule / progress, risk and commercial status of the project internally and to the Client. Engage in the Collaborative M25 Community, including Balance Scorecards, forums and workshops as required.

    Support the delivery of the business' Sustainability activities and business plan objectives Live the Connect Plus Values We have offices in Dartford, Leatherhead and South Mimms and are flexible as to which office you are based at.

    There will be a periodic requirement to attend site visits, which will include occasional night visits. There will also be a requirement to travel to other offices for meetings on the network.

    Who we're looking for Qualifications/ skills:
    Project Management Experience preferably supported by recognised Project Management qualification, PRINCE2, APMP etc. Preference of minimum degree qualification and membership of appropriate professional institution or working towards such qualification. Broad skills, knowledge and understanding of Highway or Structures Engineering and associated design areas.

    Knowledge of CDM and other H&S and Environmental legislation related to Highway Engineering Knowledge of the NEC (New Engineering Contract) and other relevant forms of contract Personal Attributes:
    Proactive problem solving Excellent communication and collaboration skills Strong safety management culture Ability to prioritise and self-manage. Self-aware and adaptable style to meet varying project needs. Demonstration of commitment to ongoing personal development via CPD Good orgainisational skills.
