Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Trauma and Orthopaedic nurse.
We are looking for a nurse with the relevant orthopaedic experience who will be working with orthopaedic trauma patients to assist their journey from admission to discharge with all long bone fractures, joint injuries and chronic orthopaedic conditions.
The successful candidate would be competent in computer skills to aid working with current NHFD guidelines, collecting data and following-up patients post discharge.
They will communicate with patients, relatives and carers including health education, health promotion, care planning, breaking bad news and end of life support.
The successful applicant will be assisting in the complex and challenging journey of the orthopaedic trauma patient following this life changing event.
The Trauma Nurse team will provide leadership of a new Ambulatory Trauma Area, ensuring specialist orthopaedic care of the trauma patient, from the earliest opportunity following the identification of the injuries until their discharge.
The successful candidate will be also be leading and supporting safeguarding issues, working closely with patients living with Dementia and help with referrals both internally and externally.
This is an exciting time for Trauma Orthopaedics at Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust, with improvements and service changes forging ahead of the anticipated Hospital Transformation Program.
Opportunities may be given to complete non-medical prescribing qualifications and to gain enhanced clinical skills such as administration of facia blocks.
With the aim of ensuring specialist orthopaedic care at the front door of the hospital.The successful candidate will be expected to move to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with the Acute trauma as per Hospital Transformation Project, as the project develops
Evidence of continued professional development
