    Role Overview:

    We are looking for a skilled General Counsel to join our team, taking the lead in legal and compliance matters as we grow. As the inaugural General Counsel, your responsibilities will include shaping our legal strategy, ensuring regulatory adherence, and managing legal risks during our global expansion. The ideal candidate should have startup experience, knowledge of European and US regulatory frameworks for business payments, experience in contract review, debt facility setup, compliance, and anti-money laundering regulations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and execute the company's legal and compliance strategy.
    • Offer legal guidance across operations, including agreements, governance, IP, and employment issues.
    • Supervise contract negotiation and drafting to ensure legal compliance.
    • Manage special purpose vehicle debt facilities for financing.
    • Establish robust compliance programs, including AML/KYC policies.
    • Provide legal advice to senior management, assess risks, and facilitate dispute resolution.
    • Collaborate with various teams to drive compliance initiatives.
    • Stay updated on legal trends and advise on potential risks and opportunities.
    • Requirements:
      • Law degree from an accredited institution.
      • Experience in respected law firms or high-tech startups.
      • Strong understanding of compliance, AML regulations, and SPV debt facilities.
      • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills.
      • Experience with multinational partners and technology-related agreements.
      • Ability to prioritize and manage diverse legal matters.
      • Knowledge of data privacy laws and security issues.
      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
      • Familiarity with securities laws and investment regulations.
