    Description

    Heriot Brown have been retained to find a General Counsel for fast-growing gold-focused mining royalty company based in central London. Joining a small London team, this is an excellent opportunity to get first-hand experience working the senior management team in a publicly listed mining investment company with a global reach.

    The role will cover a wide range of responsibilities and involve working with multiple advisors across different jurisdictions.

    Some of the responsibilities are:

    • Conduct legal due diligence on prospective royalty investments
    • Assist in negotiations on royalty acquisitions and with potential counter-parties
    • Monitor and identify risks in existing royalty portfolio
    • Periodically update existing agreements and commercial documents, such as Credit Facility and Base Shelf Prospectus
    • Responsible for corporate filings, including AGM, AIF, assisting in quarterly filings
    • Assist Board and maintain corporate records through Diligent, including Minutes
    • Manage external counsel and relationships with external legal advisors on a variety of legal matters

    Qualifications, Experience and Skills

    • Degree educated, minimum of a 2:1 or equivalent
    • PQE around 8-10 years
    • Should have extensive skills in one or more of the following: mining, capital markets or finance experience
    • Excellent analytical skills
    • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, ability to work in a small team
    • Manage external counsel and relationships with external legal advisors on a variety of legal matters

    This would suit a senior legal counsel or a senior Lawyer who is looking to develop their career to a General counsel position and work as a sole legal person in the organisation.

    An excellent remuneration package is available with the position.
