Shelford Day Nursery is Cambridge's first early years STEM setting. Our mission is to build the foundation for lifelong learning through our new and innovative STEM learning approach.Be responsible to the Nursery Manager for the safety, welfare and conduct of children and of others in the nursery during staff breaks to ensure the smooth running of the room as directed by the Nursery Manager & Room Leaders.
To ensure that the serving of lunch to children is in line with nursery procedures for food safety and that children with allergies/dietary requirements receive appropriate food.
To ensure high quality mealtime experiences for all children.To maintain hygiene standards and undertake domestic duties within the nursery.
To ensure all assigned domestic duties are of a high standard.
Ensure that the routines are adhered to so that children continue to receive high quality care and education during the lunch period.
Work together with the Nursery and Lunchtime Supervisory teams to ensure all tasks are completed.Provide first aid in the case of an accident or illness, and ensure that any accident is recorded in line with nursery procedures.
At all times operate within the nursery Equal Opportunities framework and promote the inclusion of all children.To establish positive and sensitive relationships with children.
Be guided by our Early Years Team to support the implementation of activities with individual or groups of children to promote effective teaching and learning.
Provide a safe and healthy environment for all children in the group at all times, reporting any concerns with regards to the premises, outdoor area or equipment to the Nursery Manager or Deputy Nursery Manager.
Provide comfort and care at all times and ensure that children feel welcome and safe.Be involved in supervision of children in free play both indoors and during outside play.
Meet the physical needs of children, encouraging good standards of personal hygiene, whilst promoting independence.
Provide support for the children's emotional and social needs by implementing the principles of our Promoting Positive Behaviour Policy and by role modelling high standards of personal conduct.
Be familiar with safeguarding including own responsibilities together with care and risk assessment.Support the Company's commitment on safeguarding children in all aspects of the service.
Keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff members; Liaise with the Nursery Manager regarding training needs and attend meetings and participate in training opportunities and performance development as appropriate.
To undertake any duties set to you by the Management Team that will assist in the day-to-day running of the Nursery.
This post is exempt from The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 as the position involves working within the close proximity of young children.
All employees are made aware of their responsibility to notify the Nursery Manager immediately of any changes to their circumstances that may affect their suitability to work with children – this is also the case in terms of any changes to the circumstances of those who live with the member of staff.
