Lower Gastrointestinal Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist - Ipswich, United Kingdom - East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust
Description
Job summary
ESNEFT oncology clinical nurse specialist (CNS) services are developing new ways of working and are seeking a motivated and experienced CNS to join our team at Ipswich Hospital. This is your chance to be part of service innovation and make a difference to patients on Colorectal and GI cancer pathways.
As a Lower Gastrointestinal (GI) Oncology CNS you will provide expert care and support, playing a key role in the development of a new hub model of nursing which incorporates Lower and Upper GI, Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic (HPB) & Neuro Endocrine Tumour treatment pathways. The hub is being created to coordinate and manage the oncology care and support required for the increasing cohort of patients who have been diagnosed with a GI cancer.
Merging our services will maximise the skill mix within the team, harness the use of transferrable and core CNS skills and develop novel ways of responding to the increasingly complex treatment pathways and advanced clinical skills required within specialist GI oncology nursing.
Our goal is to improve patient pathways and experiences, access to supportive services, early signposting, safe transfer on to surveillance pathways or remaining a key touch point for patients up to and including their end of life.
You will work as a Colorectal CNS but there will be an expectation that generic and transferrable CNS support will be provided to all patients being case managed by the GI hub as required.
Band 6 developmental roles will be considered.
