    Default job background
    Permanent
    Description

    Job summary

Do you have an interest in supporting parental mental health and parent-infant attachment?

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Clinical Psychologist to join our Norfolk & Waveney Perinatal Community Mental Health Team. We would consider a Band 7 to 8a preceptorship for a newly qualified psychologist.

We are a compassionate and supportive team, dedicated to improving infant and parental mental health and wellbeing through pregnancy and postnatally.

We are looking for someone with a strong interest in working with attachment, perinatal distress and trauma. The successful candidate will have the ability to assess and formulate the mental health needs of women in the perinatal period, while also holding in mind the mother-infant relationship, the needs of the baby, the father and the wider family. Previous experience of working with this client group is desirable but not essential, as is training and experience in delivering either Trauma-focused CBT or EMDR.

Our main bases are located at Hellesdon Hospital and the Julian Hospital in Norwich. Travel to other sites across Norfolk & Waveney will be required.

If you're enthusiastic, person-centred and have a keen interest in perinatal psychology, we would love to hear from you

    Main duties of the job

The role is exciting and varied, including offering specialist assessment and formulation, individual therapy, couple and family interventions, parent-infant work, group therapy, consultation, supervision, research and service development.

The successful candidate will be welcomed into a skilled, passionate and dedicated MDT including psychologists, psychotherapists, nursery nurses, occupational therapists, psychiatrists, peer support workers, social workers, case managers, clinical nurse specialists and senior managers. We offer high quality supervision and will support access to training and continuing professional development.

The team accepts referrals for cases of moderate to severe perinatal distress, and referrals to psychology include antenatal and postnatal anxiety and depression, providing trauma-informed care guidelines, birth trauma, post-partum psychosis and concerns about bonding / attachment. Therapies and interventions offered include CBT, EMDR, CFT, CAT, family work, parent-infant therapy, Video Interaction Guidance, Circle of Security and Newborn Behavioural Observations. We also have a well-developed group programme including a Living with Emotions (DBT skills) group and a Compassion Focused Therapy group.

In addition to ongoing training and development opportunities, we are committed to providing an environment in which you can thrive.
