    Job summary

    This role is accountable tothe Chief Executive and is a full voting member of the Board. You will ensurethe Trust has an effective financial strategy and ensures a professionalfinancial, management, accounting and compliance framework. You will also provide the Board withfinancial advice to ensure the effective planning and use of resources within aframework of robust financial governance. As an executive board member, youwill contribute to the wider strategy, performance and development of the Trust.

    However, this is also a rolewith a broad remit precisely how broad will depend on you. Currently, beyond leading the finance andbusiness intelligence functions, the post holder takes responsibility fordigital and informatics teams, and for our estates function.

    Main duties of the job

    For this role you will need tobe a chartered accountant with experience at or close to board level in acomplex patient-facing or customer-facing organisation, preferably within theNHS but we are interested in talking to others from public facingorganisations. You will be used to leading finance teams as well as developingsystems, processes and governance that result in demonstrableachievements. With the ability to seizeopportunities to enhance city-wide partnerships, you will be committed toopenness, honesty and inclusivity, someone who has a strong staff and patients focus,the drive to improve services and a desire to join a growing, well respectedand creative organisation.

    AtLeeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust we provide over 60 different communityhealthcare services for the people of Leeds from birth to death. We deliverservices in people'shomes, in schools, in health care clinics, inhostels, prisons , GP practices, hospitals and youth offending settings. Wework with all ages and we have a unique partnership with the Leeds GPconfederation, three of our directorroles are joint across both organisations.

    Weare the glue in the centre of the health and care system in Leeds, working inpartnership and formal alliances with the patients and their family and carers,all health and care providers, the council and third sector partners from majorcharities to small community groups. We are part of Team Leeds and a keypartners in the WY ICS.

    Job responsibilities

    TheExecutive Director of Finance is accountable to the Chief Executive and is afull voting member of the Board. The post holder ensures the Trust has aneffective financial strategy and ensures a professional financial, management,accounting and compliance framework.

    The postholder will provide the Board with financial advice to ensure the effectiveplanning and use of resources within a framework of robust financialgovernance. As an executive board member, the Executive Director of Financewill contribute to the wider strategy, performance and development of theTrust.

    The postholder also has Board level responsibility for a range of other corporateservices.

    The postholds executive accountability for the following functional areas:

    With the Finance team:

    CIP/wastereduction programme and delivery

    Audit

    Procurement/Supplies

    Commissioningand Contract negotiations

    CapitalProgramme prioritisation and financial management

    Clinicalsystems development and management

    BusinessIntelligence

    InformationGovernance (the Executive Director of Finance will be the Senior InformationRisk Owner (SIRO)

    Performancemanagement reporting

    With the Facilities Management, Risk and Safety team

    Facilitiesmanagement services, including but not limited to cleaning, catering and wastemanagement

    Facilitiesmanagement regulatory compliance

    RiskManagement and Safety services including but not limited to fire and securitymanagement

    Person Specification

    Experience

    Essential

  • Experience and track record as a senior manager within a large complex patient-facing organisation at, or reporting to, Board level.
  • Experience of leading and developing finance teams, systems, processes and governance with demonstrable achievements
  • Experience of leadership of non-financial functions and/or an ability to demonstrate the skills to do so.
  • Experience of major change within a patient or customer facing organisation, preferably within the NHS.
  • Evidence of successful partnership working with other health, care, and partner organisations.
