    Default job background
    Full time
    Description

    Open is an Australian-founded insurtech company, and we've expanded into the UK.

    We're looking for a superstar operations associate or manager, ideally with some insurance knowledge, ready to roll their sleeves up on a wide range of projects to help scale our UK business.

    You'll join our founding UK team, developing and driving initiaties to help us deliver the best experiences for our customers as we look to this next chapter of growth.

    About Open

    We're on a mission to deliver the best insurance experiences for the world. We started with Australia where we're supporting over 100k customers and now we're growing rapidly in the UK where we have 30k customers today.

    Open powers the embedded insurance programs for brands like Starling Bank, Bupa and Telstra (Australia's largest telco) and their customers. In Australia, we offer car, home, travel and landlords insurance. In the UK, we offer personal property insurance for things like mobile phones, contents and other valuables, with other products coming soon.

    We're backed by leading investors, including AirTree Ventures, Movac, LocalGlobe UK and Hollard Insurance, and we've won awards from FinTech Australia, the Global InsurTech 100, , Pause Fest, SmartCompany's Smart50 (5th) and the AFR Fast 100, who recognised us as Australia's 7th fastest growing company in 2022.

    Come and join our global team of 150+ and help us to deliver the best insurance experiences for the world.

    What You'll Do

    You'll report directly to our Chief Commercial and Insurance Officer UK, who's based in London, joining our founding UK team. You get the best bits of being part of a smaller start up team in the UK, and a global scaling insurtech with a team over 150 people, proven capabilities and demonstrable growth.

    You'll use your skills and experience to develop, own and deliver a wide range of projects. This will change and evolve over time as we grow, but at the moment this role would be focused on:

    • developing and delivering a number of projects to prepare our UK insurance operations for scale;
    • leading our UK Customer Success team, which provides online customer support and oversees our claims operations, to drive great customer experience; and
    • driving the operationalisation of our new insurance products that are being developed and launched in the UK this year.

    We firmly believe your career is what you make it. There's no shortage of things to do at Open, and in this role you'll have exposure to all parts of our business in the UK. You'll also get a chance to learn from, and share your own learnings and experience with, the broader global team.

    This means it's a great foundation that could see you continuing to challenge yourself across new and exciting projects across the broad Commercial & Insurance team, or develop and grow as a leader of a new function.

    Requirements

    To succeed, you'll need:

    • some knowledge of the insurance industry and insurance products, including FCA regulation;
    • a "no excuses" attitude to delivering great experiences for our customers and our partners and taking ownership when you see a problem that needs fixing (it's one of our team values);
    • excitement to learn new things and challenge yourself when faced with complex problems, whether based on customer experience, regulation, legal documents, technology systems or business processes.;
    • the ability to create plans, prioritise and then roll up your sleeves and get things done;
    • strong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills;
    • the ability to build and manage relationships with other Open teams and external partners.

    Benefits

    It's an exciting time to join our team and be part of a tech company that is solving some of the most exciting problems in Insurance. We provide our team with:

    • Highly competitive compensation, including share options - we believe in paying people what they're worth and having everyone in our company share in our success
    • High levels of autonomy and trust so you can do your best work
    • Growth opportunities internally - as you grow, your role can too
    • Flexible working - In our UK team, we're in the office 3 days a week to get the most out of collaborating together, but we are about impact, not time at your desk.
    • Annual allowance for professional development - use it towards a gym membership, professional coaching, a conference. Whatever matters most to you.

    At Open, we're open and this means that we celebrate diversity and are committed to providing an inclusive environment for all employees.

    Lastly, Open is a high-performing team that strives to achieve brilliant things every day and we encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't exactly match the job description. We're looking for people who are intellectually curious, courageous, innovative and passionate. Our culture is truly open, we're continuously challenging each other to live our values, and aren't afraid to raise questions when we fall short. Most importantly, Open is for those that want to create change and have an impact. If that sounds like you, apply for this role and let's build the future of insurance together.
