    X-Ray Operational Lead Radiographer Band 7 Vacancy – Permanent

    St. Bartholomew's Hospital

    We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, ambitious, motivated and experienced Radiographer to co-lead the Core Services team. This position is one of two X-ray Operational Lead Radiographers who will be expected to jointly manage the Core Services team. The working hours are 8.45am – 5pm Monday to Friday. There is an option to join the on-call roster to cover evening and weekend shifts as part of this role.

    The Core Services Department has 3 digital Siemens x-ray rooms, 1 brand new Siemens fluoroscopy room, 10 digital mobile x-ray systems (7 Carestream and 3 Phillips) and a brand new Xograph dental x-ray room. It is an exciting time as we recently replaced our 3 x-ray rooms for top of the range Siemens X.pree systems.

    Location - St. Bartholomew's Hospital which is in the heart of the City of London- St. Paul's.

    Main duties of the job

    Come and join our friendly and supportive team of Radiographers, where continuous professional development is encouraged. You will be exposed to a wealth of knowledge and experience guided by our expert clinical leads. In addition you will have the opportunity to use your initiative and to augment to your skills and experience.

    We offer a full range of local and specialist services, which includes centres for the treatment of cancer, heart conditions, fertility problems, endocrinology and sexual health conditions. The hospital includes the site of the new state-of-the-art Barts Heart Centre.

    This is an exciting opportunity to join Europe's largest specialised cardiovascular centre. The appropriate candidate will have good general radiographic experience, be resilient, flexible and able to demonstrate leadership and clinical supervision skills. The post holder will work closely with the Clinical, Radiographic and managerial teams.

    Essential criteria

  • Senior Radiographer in a busy general hospital with a range of appropriate clinical service.
  • Experience of developing and delivering training to radiographers and students
  • Development and implementation of Radiographic protocols and procedures.
  • Governance compliance and risk management in all areas of practice.
  • Able to work unsupervised
  • Awareness of clinical governance issue in relation to patient care
  • Desirable criteria

  • Project management and Change management experience.
  • Recruitment experience of junior Radiographers
  • Knowledge/Qualifications

    Essential criteria

  • Diagnostic Radiography BSc/equivalent
  • HCPC registration
  • working towards qualification.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation, national standards and professional guidelines
  • Knowledge of Ionising Radiation Regulations IRR 17 and IR(ME)R 2017
  • Evidence of appropriate Continuous Professional Development
  • Desirable criteria

  • Teaching qualification
  • Student Clinical Assessors course
  • Knowledge of relevant NICE Guidelines
  • Skills

    Essential criteria

  • Knowledge in a range of plain film radiography and technique optimisation
  • Teaching and training skills with the ability to adapt training and teaching styles in response to needs of the trainee.
  • Team player with enthusiasm for plain film radiography, with the ability to engage staff at all levels
  • PACS, RIS knowledge and experience
  • IT skills, with advanced levels of understanding of Microsoft office.
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload and respond to short notice demands.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Conflict resolution and mediation skills
  • Desirable criteria

  • Experience of dealing with – conflicting/ controversial/sensitive situations
  • Ability to negotiate on difficult and controversial issues including performance and change.
