    Job Description

    DP World are currently recruiting an experienced Operations Manager to join our fast paced Automotive client site in Wolverhampton. This is a critical role responsible for improving performance, productivity, and efficiency through the implementation of strong team management and development. If you have a background in Operations Management ideally within fast paced Manufacturing, Automotive, Warehousing or Logistics environments get in touch today.

    How you will contribute

    About the role:

    Delivery

    • Manage the daily activities of the logistics linefeed operation to maximise scheduling and delivery of commodities to the customer.
    • Interface with the customer to ensure smooth coordination of scheduling and maximization of schedule adherence.
    • Enact contingency plans as needed and escalate and direct activities during operational problems etc.
    • Identify potential problems, troubleshoot, escalate issues to local and senior management and participate in analysis of problems providing input for future process improvements.

    Health Safety and Environmental

    • Drive behavioral based safety throughout the plant and ensure delivery of the HS&E KPI's and take ownership of key actions that relate to operational safety.
    • Leveraging a strong background in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement, move the plant forwards in its journey of Zero Harm.

    Quality / Lean

    • Create and implement best practice in manufacturing, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
    • Oversee & review root cause analysis data and identify trends that indicate a change in performance and implement an action plan accordingly.
    • Implement and manage continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes so to aid and improve operational performance.

    Cost

    • Allocation & management of budgets, including overtime, headcount, department costs aligned to customer demand requirements and demonstrate the ability to flex costs accordingly.

    People

    • Responsible for providing effective leadership to the supervisors and/or team, enforcing Company standard and act as a role model. Proactively engage with the workforce to adopt a continuous improvement approach.
    • Full management of the team, including coaching, motivation, appraisals, reviews, KPI's, one-2-one meetings, disciplinary matters and grievances as required.

    What you will bring

    • Relevant previous experience of managing teams including consistent delivery of production targets.
    • Proven technical knowledge and skills with a broad understanding of the interfaces into multiple departments.
    • Ability to quickly understand and challenge Logistics processes.
    • ERP Systems knowledge (SAP).
    • Understanding of Logistics methods and procedures.
    • Good analytical skills in data control and understanding of production processes.
    • Experience of Customer Relationship Management.
    • Good problem-solving techniques and understanding of lean manufacturing principals.
