    Volunteer Now has partnered with Be Collective to bring a dedicated online platform for volunteering to Northern Ireland. The platform supports volunteers through the volunteering process and helps connect more people with a wider range of opportunities.

    RNID

    RNIDNear You volunteer, Northern Ireland

    Help us offer a free, in-person drop-in service for people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus, or want to get their hearing checked.

    Here's what our
    RNIDNear You volunteers do and the requirements we ask for.
    Where
    Throughout the whole SEHSCT
    When Weekdays (usually between 9am and 5pm.)
    Ideally 2 – 5 hours per week


    RNIDNear You volunteers do 6 main activities to help us make life fully inclusive for deaf people and people with hearing loss and tinnitus.

    You don't have to do all 6 of these activities – you can pick the activities you find most interesting and match your skills and experience.

    Tasks and responsibilities

    Offer practical support to the service user teaching them how to optimise their NHS hearing aid and provide information on
    RNIDservices.

    Change / clean hearing aid tubing, ear moulds and filters and replace batteries
    Reinforce instructions given at the time of fitting and issue of the hearing aid, including best listening conditions
    Advise about other support services for hard of hearing people i.e. Sensory support,
    RNIDprojects e.g. befriending, tinnitus support
    Complete relevant paperwork during Support Session and/or Home Visit
    Attend peer support meetings to share experience and keep updated with project changes and training updates
    Refer enquiries to
    RNIDstaff if you do not know the answer
    Keep all information given or discussed within the service confidential
