- Review couples attending the clinic for assisted conception treatment: check medical histories and risk factors to ensure suitability
- Check appropriateness of drug regimens for ovulation induction
- Monitor response to ovarian stimulation
- Carry out egg retrievals and embryo transfers
- Participate in the rota for weekend duties in the clinic and providing on call medical cover
- Assist with general counselling of couples
- Participate in the collection of data concerning patients attending the clinic
- Maintain good and prompt communications with referring consultants and general practitioners
- Contribute to general reviews of clinic practice, suggesting changes, as appropriate to assist in maintaining and improving the effectiveness and safety of treatment
- To co-ordinate and teach medical management of assisted conception cycles to medical postgraduates, undergraduates and other staff
- Work with other medical staff to assist in the running of the Fertility and Andrology Clinics
- To pursue an active research programme in the field of infertility and assisted reproduction in particular
- To ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times in line with company policy and HFEA Code of Practice.
- To ensure that all patient case notes and offices are kept secure in line with clinic protocols, HFEA regulations and Quality Management Standards
- In conjunction with the Quality Management team ensure that all documentation and information for patients is up to date and version controlled.
- To ensure that the clinic philosophy is adhered to in order to improve the quality of patient care, through patient advocacy and auditing of quality management process in order to promote a holistic approach to care delivery.
- To work within the legal framework as laid out by the 1990 Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act of Parliament in which the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority is responsible for the regulation, licensing and monitoring of all licensed fertility units and staff who work within them.
