    Community Fundraiser - London, United Kingdom - HOSPICE UK

    Description

    This is an exciting role, with the opportunity to put your stamp on the community fundraising programme, which has much potential, and supporting the team to create engaging and multichannel communications to our audiences with the aim to improve retention and increase acquisition.

    The post holder is responsible for developing long-term relationships with community organisations such as social clubs, local pubs, schools and religious organisations, developing appropriate fundraising activities, events and initiatives to successfully grow income in the coming years.

    Organisational context

    St Joseph's Hospice was founded in 1905 by the Religious Sisters of Charity who retain an interest in the oversight of the Hospice through their representation on the Board of Trustees. The Hospice is working to achieve Vision 2024, which has five key strands: patients, enterprise, estates, funding and fundraising, and human resources. The Hospice seeks to be an outstanding provider of palliative and end of life care. Each employee is critical to delivering and maintain those standards in accordance with the Hospice's core values.

    Discretion to act

    The post holder has day-to-day responsibility for delivering all tasks detailed in the job description with minimal supervision and as directed by the Corporate & Community Engagement Manager. The post holder will also work co-operatively with the wider fundraising team to ensure joined up working.

    Scale and impact

    Management Responsibility

    The post holder does not have line management responsibility but will be expected to manage volunteers including volunteer ambassadors.

    Budget: Income Target £100K+ in income from donations and fundraising activities and managing an expenditure budget of C £12K

    Key accountabilities

    Community Engagement

    Take responsibility for developing and implementing the Community Fundraising strategy

    Take responsibility for researching community groups, schools, religious organisations, businesses, corporate organisations and to identify new potential donors and the best approach to establish meaningful engagement

    Take responsibility for developing and implementing effective and tailored communications and approaches to engage the support of our existing and new supporters

    Take responsibility for developing and promoting range of fundraising activities, events and campaign initiatives aimed at community organisations

    Take responsibility in conjunction with the Communications team, for ensuring community support is promoted across our social media channels and through local community associations and local media platforms

    Take responsibility for working with the Hospice's internal stakeholders (Chaplaincy, volunteering and Supportive Care Services teams') to develop projects for partnership opportunities

    Event and project management

    Manage the income and expenditure budgets in line with overall Community Fundraising strategy, monitor income and expenditure against these events and campaigns and assist with monthly forecasting

    Take responsibility for community stakeholder engagement by giving talks and presentations to community organisations to encourage ongoing support and donations

    Take responsibility for the development and management of recruiting and training volunteer ambassadors, alongside our Volunteers Team

    Take responsibility for providing excellent supporter care and engagement to new and existing community organisations

    Contribute to the wider fundraising activities of the organisation, working closely and in co-operation with other members of fundraising and the wider charity

    Take responsibility for providing support to community organisations in their fundraising activities including developing products that will maximise their fundraising activity

    Demonstrate a willingness to attend events and fundraisers. E.g. visiting an evening Rotary Club where they are fundraising for The Hospice

    Take responsibility for developing a range of community events such as bucket collections and hospice-based donor-specific events (Cultivation or stewardship) to promote awareness of the Hospice and raise money in the community – E.g. Pamper evenings /donor-engagement events

    Database and other communications

    Take responsibility for the creation and maintenance of Community Organisation records on TQ CRM database to ensure data integrity and GDPR is in effect

    Keep up to date with best practice in fundraising and ensure compliance with latest legislation and guidelines

    Work with the wider fundraising team and the Hospice to promote the work of St Joseph's Hospice in all communities across the boroughs we serve

    Be the first point of engagement for all community organisations wishing to support the Hospice

    Maintain links with wider community fundraising through forums, Special Interest Groups, social groups etc. to keep abreast of trends and competitors

    Personal Development

    Identify your own learning and development needs in order to meet the key requirements of the post

    Take responsibility for linking your own development needs with the Hospice appraisal and objective setting process

    Take responsibility for your own continuing development by undertaking specific areas of work/projects to develop new skills

    Take responsibility for your own professional development, including keeping up-to-date with relevant professional and other developments in Fundraising at local and national levels

    Engage in supervision to support your personal and professional development.

    Comply with and promote the Hospice's environmental policies, which stem from our core values. Promote environmentally sustainable practice and development and avoid any behaviour, which undermines environmentally sustainable practice and development throughout the Hospice services and departments.

    Health, safety and welfare

    Ensure a safe working environment and be aware of responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act, taking appropriate action in the event of an accident to patients, staff, self or any other person in the work area.
