Job Description

The Role

To develop and apply the skills necessary to become a qualified solicitor. You will develop these skills through supporting the Legal, Risk and Compliance function (LRC) on a wide range of tasks and projects. This role will start with a three-month probationary period as a paralegal before the training contract commences.

As an in-house paralegal/trainee lawyer at Fastmarkets you will gain exposure to a wide range of legal disciples, including commercial contract drafting and negotiation, corporate law, real estate, intellectual property, anti-trust, regulatory and employment.

We will ensure that you are appropriately supervised by solicitors and other individuals in the LRC team while you undertake your training.

The role sits in the newly established LRC function within Fastmarkets. LRC is responsible for managing legal, risk, compliance, privacy, co sec and ESG on a global basis across the business. The General Counsel reports to the CEO and the team is viewed as a genuine business partner, critical to helping the organisation deliver its strategy.

Principal Accountabilities

• Support the Senior Legal Counsel across a broad range of workstreams: including commercial contracts, corporate law, real estate, intellectual property, anti-trust, regulatory and employment law, providing advice and assisting with the drafting and negotiation of contracts
• Triage of legal queries received from the Fastmarkets business, providing initial advice and guidance where appropriate
• Assist with training and the creation of appropriate guidance and resources for the business on key legal issues
• Assist with the establishment of new systems, processes and controls for the LRC team in order to improve management of legal and regulatory risk, as well as to drive efficiency
