About the Maintenance Technician Job Family
Balfour Beatty Communities' (BBC) Maintenance Technician Job Family was established to provide a structure around the maintenance function at BBC.
This new framework will create levels around roles and responsibilities, while also attracting, retaining, and growing our maintenance employees Each level has their own requirements as defined in the job description and have a training plan set in place to help you achieve the next level.
The Maintenance Job Family has the following levels:
Maintenance Trainee
Maintenance Technician I
Maintenance Technician II
Maintenance Technician III
Oversees one or more assets and supervise general maintenance engineers and technicians.
Usually also has specific property maintenance responsibilities, including, but not limited to general maintenance and orderliness of property HVAC, mechanical, electrical, utilities and lighting systems.
Experience level to direct mechanics, technicians, and outside contractors on assigned projects. Controls inventory of parts and equipment. Coordinate all Maintenance related / contractor activities.Ensuring the successful execution of all company safety and environmental policies and procedures.
Working a rotating on call schedule to have 24/7 maintenance coverage
High school diploma or GED graduate level
Minimum of 7 years of maintenance experience with no certifications or 4 years' experience with EPA 608 Universal required.
HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Appliance Repair Certification or Carpentry.Advanced knowledge in at least one of the following disciplines: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry.
Ability to perform Quality Control on work and repairs completed
Ability to provide guidance and training to less senior technicians. Required training for Maintenance Tech III completed within 15 months of hire/promotion date.
Valid, state-issued driver's license with a safe driving record is required.
Regularly use hands to manipulate tools, machinery, equipment, supplies, and office equipment. Sit and stand to do clerical work.
Typical Work Conditions:
Work is performed in and outside a maintenance/machinery environment and in and outside residential properties. Employee frequently interacts directly with residents, maintenance, and communities' staff during the workday.
