    Description

    Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse -Critical Care An exciting opportunity for a band 6 staff nurse has arisen in KGH ITU, Ilford.

    You will be part of a team caring for critically unwell patients accoss 2 units based at KGH.

    Jasmine ward is a 4 bedded elective surgical unit providing post-operative care for patients requiring level 2 and level 3 care in the post operative period.

    KGH ITU is a 9 bedded unit providing care to emergency admissions from both the wards and a busy emergency department presenting with a range of conditions requiring level 2 and level 3 care.

    Our critical care units consist of a total of 57 beds across two sites - Queens and King Georges and occasionally you will be required to work across site depending on service demands.

    We are looking for enthusiastic experienced nurses with a passion for delivering high quality care in partnership with patients and their relatives, who can demonstrate an ability to lead others to work within these standards in a secondment role.

    You will be required to provide training and support to new staff members, guiding individuals that require performance related assistance.

    You must be able to act as a role model providing teaching and leadership support to the nursing team in the clinical area and work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to demonstrate high standards of individualised and evidenced based patient centred care and be responsible for supporting changes based upon local and national guidelines.

    oTo provide holistic nursing care to clients within the ITU/HDU, utilising all resources to provide excellence in practice.oTo support all areas of critical care including cross site working.oTo take charge of the shift regularly in the absence of a senior nurse.oTo act as a role model to junior members of staff.oTo provide bedside teaching and mentorship to junior colleagues.oTo provide support to the senior nursing staff.oReports any potential / actual problems to senior nurse.

    We provide care for the residents of three diverse London boroughs.

    Most of our 7,800 permanent staff live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge and the majority are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups.

    We also provide healthcare services to people in south west Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.

    Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals and we operate from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford.

    We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London - more than 300,000 people visited our A& Es in 2023.

    We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Community Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic.

    The Elective Surgical Hub at King George Hospital is one of eight to be accredited as part of a national scheme the Care Quality Commission has raised the ratings forurgent and emergency careat Queen's and King George hospitals anddata released by NHS Englandshowed that the Trust was the most improved in 2023 for reducing waits for emergency care.

    We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre Radiotherapy Centre Hyper Acute Stroke Unit and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital.
