    About the role

    The successful postholder will command a broad remit of diverse and challenging responsibilities including providing operational leadership within the department, strategic development and planning, operational management, staffing management, finance and resource management and research operations.

    The Departmental Manager will be required to develop and deliver operational services in an efficient, responsive, and professional manner. Effective implementation of statutory regulations, UCL and departmental policies and procedures is central to the role as is the provision of high-level financial management for the Department.

    The Departmental Manager will also be required to proactively support the Head of Department in implementing strategy, the day-to-day operations of the Department, and providing management information.

    Importantly, the successful postholder will play a key role in actively promoting a supportive collegial environment among the professional services team and providing wider operational support to the equality, diversity, and inclusion activities within the department.

    Please note this is a fixed-term role for 12-months. This post will be offered as a Secondment to UCL internal candidates.

    About you

    We are keen to hear from applicants with a proven track record in a senior role in administration, operations and management within a higher education environment. You will have demonstrable experience of recruiting, managing, and developing staff and of effective budgetary management and control. You will also be able to demonstrate excellent communication and negotiation skills to work with and through others.
