    Job summary

    Afantastic opportunity has arisen for a permanent hour position as a ClinicalSpecialist Physiotherapist in MSK Outpatients as part of the Physiotherapy team.

    As a team, we pride ourselves on ourdevelopment and positive approach to change, as well as having a flexible andsupportive team ethos. We have strong links with other therapy teams, otherdivisions including Orthopaedics and ED and with the wider MDT.

    Main duties of the job

    Thesuccessful candidate will be required to take a lead role in the delivery ofthe physiotherapy service for those with upper limb and spinal musculoskeletalconditions working alongside advanced physiotherapy practitioners and teamleaders within this speciality.

    This post will play a key rolein reviewing pathways for patients within physiotherapy, auditing anddeveloping other team members to deliver a high quality therapy service forpatients to ensure best practice.

    The post also requires theindividual to have advanced clinical knowledge, skills and experience withpatients with upper limb and spinal MSK conditions, post graduatequalifications in a relevant area preferred, with experience within TMD, facialpalsy and/or neck/head cancer an advantage.

    We require the individual tobe a team player with excellent communication, organisational, teaching andleadership skills who is committed to facilitating positive change management,developing themselves and the team.

    The successful candidate willbe required to work across all of our hospital sites within the Trust but therole will be based initially at Pinderfields Hospital.

    Job responsibilities

  • Be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care.
  • Ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management.
  • Accept sole clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients and organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
  • Undertake the specialist and comprehensive assessment of patients referred from a variety of sources, including those with a complex presentation, using investigative and analytical skills
  • Formulate individualised management and treatment plans, using clinical reasoning, and utilising a wide range of advanced treatment skills and options to formulate a specialised programme of care in conjunction with the patient and carers
  • Plan a care programme for individual patients in conjunction with other professional staff within the multidisciplinary team (MDT)
  • Provide specialist clinical expertise to colleagues within the team and referrers to the service
  • Communicate effectively with patients and carers to maximise rehabilitation potential and ensure understanding of condition
  • Communication skills of persuasion, motivation and explanation to encourage patients to undertake their treatment programme
  • Use verbal and non-verbal communication skills to gain informed consent with patients where there will often be barriers to effective communication.
  • Assess capacity, gain valid informed consent and have the ability to work within a legal framework with patients who may lack capacity to consent to treatment
  • Participate in appropriate on call rota as required.

  • Degree in relevant therapy profession.
  • Registered with the Health Care Professions Council
  • Have or be working towards Masters degree or equivalent.
  • Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including attendance at recent and relevant postgraduate courses
