Right now, we are on the lookout for a Transport Shift Manager to join our team in Widnes. In this dynamic transport environment, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and secure dispatch of drivers following a 4 on 4 off shift pattern from 07:00 to 19:00.

    What a typical day looks like:

    • Help the Operations Manager in upholding all compliance and legal requirements throughout your shift, with a strong focus on safety, stepping in for them when needed
    • Assist in implementing the daily plan for deliveries and collections, closely monitoring resources, reasons for any delays, and maintaining clear communication with customers
    • Ensure all processes and protocols are followed to maintain a secure and efficient workplace
    • Supervise the Transport Office and drivers during the dayshift operations
    • Oversee the safe management of the operation
    • Ensure all team members are well-trained and adhere to company protocols at all times
    • Dispatch drivers on time to meet contract Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
    • Minimize damages and coordinate with breakdown services for vehicles or trailers

    Key qualifications for success at XPO:

    • Experience in a fast-paced environment is crucial – each day brings new challenges, so quick thinking is a must
    • Prior experience in supervising and developing a team in a complex transport setting
    • Demonstrated background in transport operations and a solid grasp of compliance and driver regulations
    • Proficient in computer usage for tasks such as responding to emails, dispatching drivers, and preparing handovers daily
    • Ability to build and nurture teams
    • Background in high-pressure, time-sensitive settings
    • Previous exposure to handling C+E drivers in a transport context is advantageous
