    Default job background
    Description

    Job Description

We recognise the value in having people with a variety of backgrounds, experience and skills in our business. That means the role requirements here should be seen as a guide, not a checklist. If you have more, less or different experiences, but really relevant skills, we'd love to hear from you.

We work flexibly and will help you to find a healthy balance of remote working and time in our fantastic Southampton office, collaborating, taking part in events and getting to know people that makes working with us so rewarding. We welcome the opportunity to discuss reduced hours and job share arrangements.

    The Role

The Marine Superintendent role provides technical support to the Carnival UK Fleet in critical areas such as Life Saving Appliances (LSA), safety systems, hull & structures, and marine equipment. Responsibilities include deck department maintenance, focusing on structural integrity, coatings, platforms, doors, and open decks, as well as specialized LSA maintenance covering davits and boats.

Collaborating with the asset management strategy team, the Marine Superintendent will ensure operational risks are identified and managed effectively, while maintaining optimal equipment and vessel availability, also overseeing the planning, execution, and management of technical projects, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion.

Regular travel/ship visits are to be expected in this role.

    Responsibilities include:

Assets including but not limited to: LSA, structural maintenance, fixed and portable fire protections systems, paint coatings, lifting equipment, tanks, gangways, window washing systems, pontoons / tender platforms, shell doors, ships side glass, fire screen doors, watertight doors, mooring equipment and open decks

•To act as the technical expert for LSA, Marine equipment and hull coatings in support of the ship management team. The individual will represent CUK at the relevant Corporate Working Groups

•Responsible for management of operational risk of LSA & Marine equipment, ensuring risks are identified, managed to a tolerable level with appropriate mitigations identified and planned

•Work with ships staff, suppliers and the Ship Managers to identify and mitigate associated obsolescence risks; devising plans to replace affected equipment to ensure risk remains understood and tolerable

Our role categories range from CUK15 (entry level) to CUK1 (Brand President) so you can clearly see internal development opportunities. This role is a CUK07 and is offered on a full time, permanent basis, with hybrid working in our Southampton office, a minimum of 3 days per week.
