    Job summary

    This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months for Maternity cover.

    We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join the Planning & Coordination team, within the Primary Care Division, Primary Community and Mental Health Directorate. This is a fixed term post for 12 months.

    The division facilitates and supports provision of digital systems and services that enable Primary Care Health Professionals to work across organisational boundaries, enabling continuity of care and avoiding duplication for both patients and professionals.

    As one of four teams within Primary Care Services, the Planning & Coordination Team manages the delivery of new primary care digital initiatives and programmes of work on behalf of NHS Wales Health Boards and the Welsh Government.

    Main duties of the job

    As a project manager, you will directly lead projects to deliver digital systems and services to primary care contractors, such as GP Practices and Community Pharmacies.

    Experienced in applying project management methodologies and approaches ( PRINCE2, Agile) and have experience of major system or software implementations

    Experienced in delivering projects working with third party suppliers

    The postholder will be responsible for facilitating and driving collaboration, utilising methodologies appropriate to the project to:

    Agree the project scope and definition

    Develop plans to achieve the project goals

    Establish the project resourcing and control methods

    Monitor and adjust activities, resourcing and plans

    Develop solutions to project problems

    Maintain a focus on delivering tangible and measurable benefits to users across NHS Wales.

    Ensure security and information governance is central to project delivery.

    Adhere to standards, legislation, and governance requirements.

    Qualifications and/or Knowledge

    Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Specialist project knowledge to post graduate level or equivalent experience (Prince formal or informal)
  • Evidence of further development - education/training
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Previous experience of planning and managing projects with successful delivery within time and cost
  • Specific domain / theoretical / practical knowledge of organisations, processes, IT, policy knowledge relevant to the programme
  • Knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling projects, PRINCE
  • Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures
  • Desirable
